I'm suprised at the amount of people picking Mayweather over Duran. Duran is an awful style for him, think about the Castillo fight and how much trouble Jose's technical pressure gave him. Duran is the (IMO) the greatest technical pressure fighter ever with superb defence, a powerful jab, and a high workrate. Duran was extremely strong and would be able to push and trap Floyd in corner's where he would be overwhelmed by his relentless attack (Floyd also likes to go into a defensive shell and doesn't mount much of an offence off the ropes). If Hatton and Castillo can get inside, Duran definately can, and once there he holds a huge advantage. Roberto would rough Mayweather up and rip him apart with body shots, Floyd's considerably less mobile style at 147 makes it even easier for Duran to achieve this. Floyd's low output, safety-first style, aswell as his vulnerabilites to jab's and technical pressure mean almost certain defeat.
hearns would beat cotto and mayweather, but duran would lose to mayweather but would be cotto. then cotto vs mayweather who would win IT would be the new faboulous four
hearns would destroy cotto mayweather would outbox duran - close decision though benitez takes margo out late in the fight quartley beats quintana
I don't know what's more crazy, picking Margarito or picking Duran by KO, WTF? When has Floyd ever been CLOSE to being stopped? Certainly not against any pressure fighters... Watch the second fight between SRL and Duran, you will see SRL on his bike and Duran quitting because of it. Floyd could easily do the same, all you haters always says he just runs right? That's Duran's kryptonite... I'm getting tired of people saying "Floyd doesn't do well against pressure fighters". How did Jesus Chavez, Chico or Hatton do? All of them great pressure fighters, in their prime, who got stopped by Floyd. Yes JLC had some succes in their first fight, but Floyd was injured according to himself, stop putting too much into that ONE fight...
1. Chico was not a pressure fighter. 2. Duran is Castillio ++++++ and Floyd won no more than 7 rounds in each of their fights. 3. Hatton has no defence at all. 4. Floyd gets caught on the ropes often and does very little bar defend, you would be out of your mind if you thought he could survive Duran doing that. 5. Leonard was winning the fight but he was hardley running away with it Duran won 3 rounds. Floyd does not ever clown opponents. 6. Duran could close the distance behind his jab and back Floyd up into the ropes, which every single fighter with a bit of pressure and footspeed that has fought Floyd was able to do. Then he would beat Floyd up with his superior inside game. :good
because they think that mayweather would do what leonard did to duran. i think mayweather beats duran but it would be a closer fight than leonard duran, but the same outcome. people keep referring to mayweather's first fight with castillo and seem to forget about the second.
1. WHAT? When he fought Floyd he never took a backwards step, yes he did try to box on the outside at times against other opponents, but it never lasted long. 2. And Duran had great defence? 3. You can't compare fighters fighting 20 years apart, they are different fighters, which means a fight would have a different outcome. 4. He doesn't get caught when he runs, when he IS caught on the ropes he's great at either holding or even better at fighting back. Hatton had Floyd "caught at the ropes" all night, look what happened... 5. I din't say he was running away with it... Duran still quit. 6. I'm sorry boxing doesn't work like that, it aint that simple, Floyd could hold on, hit him on the way in or ten different things to diffuse that. Again if you could predict fights you would be rich of it, I'm guessing you're not...
Even in the second fight, he lost anywhere from 4 to 5 rounds. Now take Duran who's better than Castillo in every single facet of the game.
I guess Mayweathers Godly performance against Baldomir is what is allowing these guys to conclude Mayweather > Duran rofl
