Richard Dunn did his best he went in there to have a go, got up several times and went out on his shield, he was outclassed but did not disgrace himself. Unlike Bruce Seldon for example.
The original poster asked about the "worst credentials", not worst performance. Big difference. Might be Dave Zyglewicz, who was purely a Texas PR creation of Hugh Benbow and got the shot because of the buzz Benbow created through Ring Magazine. To be fair, Ziggy was tough, fearless and could punch. My vote goes to one of Herbie Hide's IBF title challengers in the 90's, Conroy Nelson. When your biggest career win is against a way washed up Gordie Racette and you just came off an 8 round decision loss to pudgy, pathetic looking, no muscle anywhere sloppy, slapping clubfighter John Sargent, you shouldn't be anywhere but in the curtain jerker of a title fight card.
No to Joe Roman, though. He beat highly regarded Jose Urtain overseas, beat still useful Manuel Ramos and decisioned Giant Jack O'Halloran. I believe Foreman's rage was due to Roman getting in his grill at the weigh-in and reportedly "spitting in his face". Roman had some good wins at least and had been rated by Ring Magazine at one point.
I'm not sure what the answer is here but it sure isn't Pete Radamacher! Things were different in those days. Pete was a career amatuer, 8 yrs. older than Floyd and 30 lbs. heavier. Maybe not the best comparison but think Bobby Jones never turning pro! Pete landed his right and Floyd went down with a smile on his face for pete's sake! Then decked Pete about a 100 times.... That fight continues to **** me off to use it as some sort of major 'blemish' on Floyd's career. atsch
Roman was bat**** crazy to do that to George, and deserved the brutal treatment he got afterwards. Foreman stood over him like he was going to kill him at the end. For a while there, until Roman started moving, I thought he did.
Yeah, Terry Daniels...he was pathetic really...what did he do good? Climb into the ring? Leave the ring? Had to be something. Maybe his biggest success was lasting 10 rounds with Floyd Patterson.
