Outside of Floyd, who is the best "pure" boxer at the moment?

i'd say calderon..don't let his performance with cazares fool you. Cazares had all the natural advantages he had from size, strenght, reach and a short guy who was a minimumweight like calderon won a close decision against him.

next would be guzman, then mijares

 

Ivan Calderon is the best pure boxer.

 

Calderon is better in the middle of the ring than even Floyd, though Floyd is likely a bit more versatile(better inside, off the ropes, etc).

 

Maybe Calderon.

At least Mayweather has some pop. Calderon is feather-fisted and still keeps winning because of his boxing skills.

 

Probably Ivan Calderon and Joan Guzman. In terms of pure boxing, Chris John, Zahir Raheem and Steven Luevano are up there as well, but they have other glaring issues.

 

COTTO IS COMPACT and TEXTBOOK....hes a master to watch.

 

Other than Floyd

Toney. The old school version but it is still textbook.

Cotto. He does most things right, great balance, clean punches and his defense is getting much better.

JMM is not offensive enough. Textbook boxers know how to create offense. JMM has lost fights because he is too limited. He can't fight coming forward. His borther on the other hand can fight forward. I rate his brother Rafeal as having better boxing skills.


Wlad under Emmanuel has become very textbook.

Juan Diaz although offensively minded is textbook

 

nope ,, Zab is a lot more explosive then pac and floyd systematically took zab tools away then he shut Zab's offense completely down. .. once floyd meets a fighter that fight just as systematically as he does then you will see him get hit a lot more ..

Probably Joan Guzman or Joe Calzaghe. LoL at the people who said Zahir Raheem, Mikkel Kessler, and Juan Diaz. Zahir Raheem isn't an elite fighter and Mikkel Kessler has defensive flaws. Juan Diaz is a volume puncher who often tries to slugs with his opponents, that doesn't sound like a pure boxer to me. Bernard Hopkins is probably the best pure boxer outside of Floyd.....5 years ago.
