Haha if you read my other comment here I am criticise the card as it is terrible. All I am doing here is defending AJ because I cant see how he can be criticised for this fight. Maybe he would be better getting in some more sparring however he has chose to be active, in my opinion a good thing all things considered, and you cant expect him to be tackling a great opponent given the fact he has a step up in 3 weeks time. I for the record do not see much point in the fight, however I am just saying the criticism shouldn't be towards AJ and instead on Hearn or whoever is responsible for making the fight, but given all the circumstances I would have expected an opponent with a much worse record than what Love has

Sky should inform Matchroom that the Birmingham Card is unacceptable and to cancel the show providing a full refund (including fees) to all mugs who bought tickets.

    Hull was a shyte card
    Leeds was a shyte card
    Newcastle was a shyte card

In fact nearly every non PPV Matchroom Card is now a shyte card.

From my living room Newcastle was a good nights boxing, interspersed with Stevenson and Berbitev on the PBC.

On May 9th you get Burns v Figuera and Mcdonnell v Kameda interspersed with the Birmingham bill. Whats the problem?

Can see this happening more with a lot of bills being in the afternoon in the USA. Its good to mix it up.

They really need to stop this slowly slowly prospect **** , the guys an olympic gold medalist fighting in a very weak heavyweight era , he should be now ready to fight the whos who before time passes him by , no reason atall he shouldnt be fighting the prices or chisoras and furys of this world as none of them are streets ahead in terms of standard

No good if you're at the shows though.

I don't disagree though its Matchrooms product thats **** not Sky's on May 9th. If Sky have to rely on shows from the states to bulster the poor cards Eddie is feeding them then maybe they should rethink his deal.

    Er, wasn't Gavern? :huh

That makes three steps down from Bakhtov in a row. :!:

I like Joshua and everything but this matchmaking (especially if Joshua vs. Johnson falls apart) is getting to be indefensible. Kind of reaching Gary Russell Jr. (before Lomachenko) and Kell Brook (eight years into his pro career) levels. :think

This fight proves more than anything that like I said before, Joshua is nothing more than a brand to sell tickets and fool dumb brits desperate to see a new HW champ.

There is no integrity in this match up it's a shameless effort to save a dead card which AJ is happy to oblige.

I'm still waiting for his fanboys to tell me what he is actually learning in the ring by fighting 12 fat bin men, cabbies and semi retired pros?

    This!

There was no plan at all for Joshua to fight before the Johnson fight (which I think is a decent step in the right direction) before Gavin / Van Heerden was cancelled.

Eddie using AJ so he doesnt have to cancel the awful show due to him shipping Gavin in for his pay per view..which is all he cares about!

At least there is logic and reason behind what they are doing. Hard to say the same of Wilder, GRjr etc.

    Kevin Johnson's a bum.
He's lazy, negative, he just tries to survive. He shows no desire to win.
Possibly the laziest heavyweight I've seen who isn't a complete flop artist. And that's saying something.
