The bad thing with boxing nowadays is promoters/managers/advisors/networks are more famous and wealthy than the fighters. Commentators have to choose sides or they are out of a job. Sky sports in the UK is so biased towards Eddie Hearn/ match room promotions/Carl Froch it makes it hard viewing sometimes.

    Give me RJJ any day

Round and time of that call in the fight? At points I thought Pac missed too on TV, but watching the reply in slowmotion, the punch did connect and I guess Lampley has a better view from ringside than I do from home.

I remember seeing Lampley for the first time as a sideline reporter for a college football game and thinking this guy is going places. He has done some good work over the years but HOF I don't think so. It's a shame because I occasionally hear no name announcers on some of these foreign broadcasts, like on the Tennis Channel, who are outstanding. No hype, just normal conversational coverage. But, no, here in the US we have to have celebrity figures, everyone is elevated to God-like status if they do it long enough. Just give me some guys who know what they are talking about, which is actually a huge number, many right here on this site could do it if given the opportunity, and I would love it. I don't need to listen to some big shot call the fight. Lampley, in his mind and in the minds of his producers, has become a big shot. Don't need or want it.

Lol at all you guys getting so upset about the commentary... Like it has any bearing on the fight if he calls a missed shot.. Lol.. Do you not have eyes? Watch the fight for yourselves.. Some even say they turn the sound off, lol???? That's gotta be real exciting, you can't even hear the punches land.. I mean I hear the comments too, but I don't hang on every word they say because I'm focused on the actual fighters. I like to hear the crowd cheer or jeer, the punches landing, the ref calling instructions, the corner yelling advice. All that together on top of me yelling at the tv and the commentators are not that big a deal to me. I don't ignore them, but it doesn't ruin anything for me if they don't describe exactly every scoring or non scoring punch from each fighter.. Jeez..

I hope he's on the commentating team on May 2nd. His insight of what's happening or what's about to happen is uncanny.

Many of them lay on a tragic amount of bias. With reasons ranging from fighters commentators that will lay on the bias for fighters with styles similar to their own, he beat me so I don't/do like him, non fighting commentators who just go along with what the ex fighter said for various reasons, network golden boy bias, racism, prejudice etc. It's a list of reasons very long and deep that I feel sorry people who don't have the ability to separate what they see from what the commentating is saying, which is sadly, very, very, many people.

Maybe he didn't find you "physically attractive", like he does Juan Diaz.

I agree, Lampley is biased as **** but I actually like his commentary, he has more passion than most other commentators who may be more ****ytical than Lampley but at the same time are far more boring.

In fact I only really dislike Max out of the HBO commentary teams.
