No provided this machete attack didn't ruin him as a top level fighter (something we don't know yet) his career most certainly will not end up like Joe Calzaghe's career. He'll fight in big fights in both England and the US. Probably in Vagas.

You guys just need to see the game that is getting played here. The first thing you need to know is that Eddie has no intention of making the Khan fight now. It would be a massive fight now but it would be an even more massive fight in 1.5-2 years after Brook has beaten Rios, Marquez and Bradley and after Khan grabs one of the Pacquiao or Mayweather belts that will be left over after they both retire (which will happen after they finish fighting eachother)...

Right now to make that happen Eddie Hearn is establishing Brook as a UK PPV star. He's got two fights to do that. The first is with a known domestic rival on a very very deep card. He needs to make the card deep because he needs to entice the people on the fence to pony up the cash to see the card. Good move.

His aim is to show a big number in PPV so that he can go to a guy like Bob Arum and say "hey look at the revenue streams we can generate with Kell here in the UK. Can we get Brandon Rios over here?" Rios will be a PPV in the UK with HBO building Kell in the US and on their platform. The purpose will be to line Kell up with Bob Arum's other B-side PPV fighters Bradley and Marquez. The Bradley fight will probably take place in the US (Vagas or AC). It won't be PPV in the states but it will be in the UK. Hearn will us it to establish that Kell can bring paying fans and to the US and hold his PPV revenues in the UK. Then Arum and Hearn will make a PPV between Marquez and Brook in Los Vegas. That'll tap into both the UK latino PPV markets. My guess is that a Marquez Brook fight happens sometime around a year from now (i.e. late May/Early June). By taking this route Hearn would grow brooks stature and create well established revenue streams. Which in turn would increase the the ticket sales revenue, international broadcasting revenue, sponsorship and PPV money surrounding a Brook-Khan fight by several orders of magnitude (and that is no joke).

If you watch boxing long enough and know the patterns to look for you can see that this is what HEarn is trying to do. I've actually been saying this since before the Porter fight. I hope he can pull it off because if he can it'll be a bigger grossing fight then Froch Groves.

After this little run, which I expect to be over in about 1.5 years Kells resume will already **** all over Calzaghe's. And he'll still be prime and in good shape to fight Thurman, Crawford, Canelo or who ever else the new PPV stars in and around that weight will be.

Oh I'm sure if Khan came a long and was like "hey Eddie its now or never, I got bigger fish to fry." He'd take the fight. But I also think he sees an ideal way to do things and will try to work for that first.

As far as a promoter booking a venue and publicly making an offer, that costs him nothing. No money lost. Just a whole lot of hype and free press. When was the last time you heard a promoter publicly talk about having a venue booked and an purse on offer for a fight that actually got signed? Don't think too hard...it never happens.

If you remember Amir Khan had tried to say he'd booked Wembley or some bollucks as well. It's all talk. Nothing more.

If anything public offers and bookings of mega venues does more to prove my hypothesis then disprove it.

Yes. Much like Calzaghe, Brook will be remembered as the best ever in his weight division (which will be quite impressive when the likes of Ray Robinson, Ray Leonard, Henry Armstrong, Thomas Hearns, Jose Napoles, Kid Gavilan, Joe Walcott, Emile Griffith, Barney Ross and Mickey Walker have all fought there).

Much like Calzaghe Brook will hold the lineal title in two weight classes (moving up another division and beating someone in their back garden when Brook is shot).

Much like Calzaghe, Brook will go into the Hall of Fame the first time he's eligible.

Much like Calzaghe, the American womb will not be capable of creating a fighter that can beat him.

He will take a big fight after this one, I`m sure of it. He`s the future of the division along with Thurman.
