Heavyweight Boxing history is full of guys with a good right cross. You could list about 50 people who could pull off a similar upset. Sometimes I think Lennox's ego was his chin's worst enemy. He was smiling at Rhaman a moment before Rhaman lowered the boom and dropped him for the count of 10. I could see Tim Witherpsoon upsetting Lennox. I would not pick Timmy, but would not be shocked with an upset KO win for Witherpsoon either.
While I would always pick Lennox Lewis to beat Tim Witherspoon, something tells me that Tim's style and attributes would make him a tough fight and an upset on the right evening is always possible. That come from behind win against Frank Bruno with a thunderous right hand comes to mind.
McCall was more of a one shot surprise (but set up well) but Rahman had been getting to Lewis prior to the stoppage. TKO5 McCall and KO4 Rahman in the rematches. Lewis only lost twice. He won close decisions over Mercer and Holyfield (the rematch). He also had a draw with Holyfiled (1st fight) but most felt Lewis deserved the decision in this fight. He also beat Ruddock, Tucker, Bruno, Morrison, Akinwande, Golota, Briggs, Grant, Tua, Tyson, V. Klitschko, and others. He was rocked a few times (Bruno, Briggs, Mercer, Akinwande, Holyfield, Klitschko) but only McCall and Rahman put him down (lost by KO both times). To be honest, it's hard to imagine too many fighters getting away with it.
Who else does (as in, you'd lay money) - or could, if favorable circumstances presented themselves as for McCall & Rahman?
I don't know if you could actually pick anybody to do it. It would take a master trap setter, like Sam Langford, or Jersey Joe Walcott, and then they would need a bit of luck.
great possibility ....If we could pick im sure McCall's, Chuvalo,Purity, possibly Vitali would fall into the top draw...there have been a few other trial horse guys that while lacking other talents have excellent chins as well.
The thing is Rahman and even McCall really were not even one punch knockout guys themselves. Lewis was just so open and vulnerable in these instances he was caught, especially in the Rahman fight. If Lewis is on the ropes, chin completely out, mouth open, hands down and not even remotely braced for a punch..there are lot of guys who would likely take him out.
