"Everything I do is calculated. Even keeping the world waiting for this fight, which would only have been worth about $60 million if we'd done it five years ago." -Floyd Mayweather

Seems to me he is admitting he didn't want the 5 years ago, and is the reason this fight didn't happen until now. This dude basically admitted to ducking without even knowing it lol :patsch

So floyd admitted that floyd himself delayed the fight. Flom0s would not like this floyd quote one bit. Just like floyd admiiting he is a big WW.

Are you implying that a 'prize fighter' was positioning himself to earn more money? This is so shocking, I can hardly wrap my mind around it.

He was obviously ducking back then

He probably would have won then too which is what I find strange

I don't buy the idea that he was trying to wait for the fight to become bigger

Yeah, this reminds me of watching the Pac vid where he's laughing while USADA takes his blood then training right afterwards ... the dude basically admitted to ducking without even knowing it lol :patsch

No denying both sides stalled to make more money.

But this isn't that exactly. This isn't a grand scheme where Floyd said back during the negotiations for March 2010, that he'd wait 5 years and the fight would be bigger. a 5 year window in a crazy pro sport like boxing would be idiotic planning, and as it is, Marquez derailed the true luster for this fight several years back.

Just confirmed what a lot of people thought already. They stalled to milk their other fights.

Floyd honestly gives zero F***s about facing prime Manny.

I'm not saying he ducked him, but he could give two S***s about not fighting Manny five years ago.

Once I came to terms with this it became easier for me to accept. He doesn't care.

You can hardly wrap your head around the fact Mayweather admitted he was the reason boxing fans had to wait 5 years for this fight that you can only respond with a sarcastic comment lol.

That was a stupid gamble. He's lucky Pacquiao recovered from KO6, got his belt back from Bradley. Otherwise there would be no fight.

Waiting five years is really re****ed given what was at stake nevermind the fact that neither guy is near prime anymore.

He is not obligated to give boxing fans anything, he fights when he wants and you'll watch it just the same.

You're thinking about it from a fan's perspective, he's thinking about it from a business one - this is his job after all.

It doesn't matter that neither are in their primes anymore from a business standpoint.

Five years ago Floyd was a massive PPV star. He was going to bring in truckloads of money regardless of what world class fighter he fought.

So there you have it. Floyd just didn't care. That's what's so basic about it.

He waited to do the fight now, not because he was scared, but because it makes more money and has more attention now than it did back then.
