    Left cross.

Miura's a southpaw and that was straight as an arrow.

    :yep

Grado is very solid but in the grand scheme of things he doesn't match up well against too many elites. I view him as more of an overachiever, did very well to become a titlist on sheer hustle and finding a style that worked effectively for himself, but he is just lacking too much to be a full-on world beater.

*plugs ears* don't wanna hear it.

I agree Evgeny's an overachiever but that's why I love him. Those are my favorite types of fighters. It's why I respected DSG so much until he literally started achieving more than he deserved because ya know...Haymon...

I think what I'm learning above anything from the more knowledgeable guys on here is that even guys who aren't considered particularly hyped are more hyped than a lot of guys out there who are more deserving. Particularly guys from the Far East. Some of the guys boxing prospect turned me onto last night looked terrifyingly good and I had no idea they even existed.

Take it you found footage of Ken Shiro, Omori or Tanaka? I'd say they were the 3 stand outs

Yeah, a lot of it comes down to a pigeonholed view of the sport that we're given by our media (which barely covers boxing anyway), who only bother propping up guys that directly serve their needs: i.e. Showtime fluffs its roster, HBO theirs, ESPN just comments on whoever is making waves/headlines or appearing regularly on PPV or p4p lists (so long as they're American or British, or at least fight in the US)...

Japanese fighters are generally very good technically and hard as a coffin nail.

Of the guys you mentioned I had heard the most about about Tanaka and Kogawa but had seen very little of either. Both are even better than I'd thought, particularly Tanaka but man, Kogawa is great to watch. Shiro and Omori were completely new to me and both looked scary! Hadn't heard of Obara either but he looks like a killer! Really appreciate the tips :good

    This :good

I was talking with CST yesterday about why CW (one of my absolute favorite divisions at the moment) gets no love whatsoever and I made the point that I understood why the casual public doesn't appreciate the lighter weight divisions because they're the opposite end of the spectrum in terms of the 'biggest, baddest men on the planet' line of thinking that has elevated HW for eternity. But cruisers are the 2nd biggest, baddest men! CST basically said it's simple, not enough US/British fighters to make money off, so they just get ignored. And sadly, I have to agree with him. :-(

Miura is a beast. He's a pure puncher, he deserves another shot at Uchiyama.
