He's 2 divisions bigger so of course he would put up a good fight. Still loses though Imo.

Nothing, but does he have to?

Mayweather's career will be judged on how many top fighters he beat. If he beats Golovkin, he will further cement his reputation. Everyone talks bad about Mayweather these days and holds him to a negative light, so if he goes out against Golovkin, beats him and proves himself, he will gain more credibility. Then, no-one can say 'He ducked him', 'Unfair advantage' 'Only fought bums'.

Golovkin is no slouch either. But he's a different kettle of fish and Mayweather knows that. Mayweather won't fight him is my opinion.

I'm not a big GGG fan.

I just want to see the best middleweights occupying the championships in the weight class. It's logical.

In your scenario, Floyd beats Cotto then invites Pac or Khan up to "middleweight", we have a bunch of old featherweights and glass-chinned light-welters clogging up the middleweight division.

Mayweather doesn't need to fight GGG, and honestly, it would be a stupid fight to pursue, given the fact that COTTO is the middleweight champion.

As Caper mentioned, these guys are at totally different stages in their careers. Nonsensical talk of a fight between Floyd and GGG is nothing more than a pipe dream for the disgruntled GGG faithful.

No, in my scenario, Floyd becomes middleweight champion and then retires.

Your refusal to even attempt to answer my question leads me to believe you know I am correct, and that you cannot list a single good reason as to why Cotto - THE middleweight CHAMPION - wouldn't want to fight the P4P Cash Cow.

Agree. It's not going to happen. But if it did, it would be fantastic to watch. I think Mayweather would lose though.

    pppfttt...

GGG probably would beat Floyd, as may Martin Murray and many other true middle weights...

    And...?

Floyd wouldn't be able to deal with Golovkin's jab, let alone anything else.

I'd pick Golovkin. Too big, hits too hard, has a great jab and can cut the ring well. Floyd would win some rounds. But, eventually, GGG would trap him on the ropes and it really just takes one clean shot from GGG on a much smaller guy in Floyd.

But, a more meaningful fight is GGG-Ward. And I pick Ward to put on a clinic in that fight. I have a feeling that might build up to be our poor man's Mayweather-Pacquiao in the next couple of years.

You're right, Cotto would do well to chase that fight.

Not a fight I'd like to see. I thought Mayweather beat him pretty easy last time, no reason to believe that a rematch could offer anything much different.

So can ward, wilder, huck etc... the guy shouldn't have to keep moving up. He's 38 and a pro for 18 years. Plus his career it's over soon... let him fight a Chris Algeria or Brandon Rios. Ok
Oh wait! That's only reserved for THE GREAT MANNY PAC
