I think the preponderance of evidence points to a reticence on Floyd's part to face Manny back when both were closer to their respective bests. In the video, leave aside the ridiculous claims about head size. He more or less admits his concerns. Examine his claims about weight jumping. He himself has weight-jumped as much or more, just not in the pros. http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?p=13858517&highlight=fears#post13858517
Yeah, that's fine by me - but I think if Pac had agreed to Olympic blood testing the fight would have happened. I also think that Paulie's question - regardless of his personal opinions - "Why wouldn't he take the test?", which Glen McGrory refused to answer for obvious reasons, is a reasonable one.
The late Joe Rein/John Garfield (who sometimes hung around Pac's gym) stated that it was a pride thing. Pac was indignant at being asked and the implication that went with the request (He later sued successfully and took a few million off Floyd, a risky move, if he actually was juicing) We'll probably never know for sure.
Digressing for a moment to another topic. In his 49th fight, which would do more for Floyd's all-time ranking, a victory over Cotto at MW, or a victory over GGG at MW. ? One option gives him a linear title (regardless of how Cotto came by it). The other would make Floyd 'the man' at MW.
I think Manny was probably using PEDs. My attitude is so what, just fight him. Those other guys did. Mayweather's no more likely to be clean, in my view anyway. I think he probably has used PEDs too. I find the whole thing a complete smokescreen, and the testing procedures are likely to be just a whole new lot of crooked and corrupt BS to add to the rest of it. It's all BS. There no such thing as "clean". I think the reality and creeping danger is that fans increasingly need drugs to stay awake during these bullsheet fights. :deal
Marquez was loaded up with an undetectable PED for the last Manny fight, he brought the guy in his corner and training (who snitched on all the users and sellers) This guy was the master of new undetectable versions ....they absolutely help for a time and do there damage as well.
I think you will find the majority are not going to accept a fight between two declined fighters as the absolute truth no matter how many names you call them. People still question who would win between prime Holyfield and Tyson despite a far more dominant win for the older gent, why is this fight going to be any different?
It may have played out similarly. In fact, I've always said Floyd was the slight favourite. But the fact that you don't see that Pac might have been a little more gun-shy, having been knocked out cold, and thus might have fought more aggressively had it been 2010 tells us that you shouldn't be tossing around terms like 'idiot.'
