We all knew what Floyd was going to do...

Use athleticism, skill, foot speed and ring smarts.

Roach knew this...Pacman knew this...boxing fans new this...

The puzzle is not new, nor was Pac's approach to solving it.

He failed worse than some of Floyd's previous opponents.

They're both top fighters... Floyd is simply the better boxer.

People have been claiming boxing is dead for a hundred years, multiple newspaper articles have been posted on here from the 20's 30's 40's etc saying 'boxing is dead'. The sport is still going strong after all this time, it will never die.

Pac aint no prime DLH or Chavez Sr. Quit comparing him to greats like that. Did you ever hear Chavez Sr cry about a fake injury?

pac-floyd may go down in the history as the only fight with no trading and no counterpunching, or with the least.

and the no counter, trading was done by supposed to be the best counter puncher.

this fight will go down in history as the bigger, stronger, faster juiced up guy ran from a midget. both symbolic and literal.

there is no other way to describe this.

it's almost as if judges expect the opponent to go far above and beyond anything an opponent has had to do before. Floyd is undefeated and considered P4P best so judges give him ALL rounds where there is inactivity. Floyd knows this. He knows that judges will be hard on opponents and expect opponents to do so much to win rounds vs Floyd. Judges don't want to give Floyd first loss unless opponent does something special, this is undeniable. Floyd is smart and knows that any round where he dances, runs and opponent doesn't land anything (even if floyd himself doesn't land anything). he'll get the round. You would think judges would award inactive rounds to fighter trying to make the fight but not vs floyd Mayweather, they are expected to do special thing to give floyd 1st loss. It's become almost impossible to beat Floyd Mayweather. He's elusive and any round where nothing happens, Floyd gets them. How do you beat him like this?

In fact, name an example of a lesser fighter beating an all-time great by "running".

I'll give you an example of an ATG beating an ATG by using his legs and fighting smart:

Sugar Ray Leonard versus Roberto Duran II. Please review just the first round for me to refresh your memory.

The truth is that Mayweather mostly kept the fight in the center of the ring but defused Pacquiao's ambushes by using lateral movement, spinning/turning off the ropes, head movement, stepping back, change of height, change of direction and, yes, occasional clinching (incidentally, the clinching was substantially lower than the number of clinches in the Klitschko-Povetkin match. Not close). If all of this was so easy to do, don't you think someone would have succeeded with the strategy on Pacquiao before? Why not Chris Algeri, for example? Joshua Clottey also adopted a defensive approach but lost every round.

The answer is that the combination of tactics Mayweather used is incredibly difficult to pull off against someone with the hand and foot speed of Manny Pacquiao--and that's why this was indeed a defensive masterclass.

I respect Freddy, but noone should ever take seriously what he says. He's still a good trainer, though he is overrated.

He laughed at Mayweather sr., but tonight Floyd's corner was way smarter than Freddy.

Against the biggest threat in the division, Floyd out punched, out landed and out maneuvered Manny - as he has done to virtually all his opponents.

Whether or not he's better than Ali, he is definitely in the conversation.

As wonderful as Manny is - he is not in that conversation.

Did you expect to see the 2009 Pacquiao? He's never coming back. What we saw was Pacquiao 2015 doing what Pacquiao 2015 does.
