with floyd mayweather giving up his belts and is as expected he retires after his september fight who will we see pick up the belts and become the number 1 in the division ? could pacman carry on and take the mantle again or will we see khan/kell/thurman/danny garcia or maidana take control of the welterweight scene?

i think if thurman continues to improve then he will be the main man, i think kell could also beat any of the others but see him moving up soon.

ive added an option for other incase i have missed someone that might be a dark horse!

i cant see one of them being the main man. Mayweather is on a different level to every fighter whereas the rest are all great fighters but i cant make a case for 1 fighter being better than the rest. For example i fancy Khan to beat Brook, Thurman to beat Khan but then Brook to beat thurman.

Voted Bradley, I think for the first time in quite a few years Welterweight looks weak. With the nearing retirement of Floyd and one from Pacquiao not too long after I would assume, there are no real established top class fighters. Bradley looks the most rounded, Khan is very good but we all know his flaws. Thurman looks very good, however I think he throws his shots too wide and I think he may have some chin issues himself, something I have seen a few others on the general forum say also.

Brook is a very good solid fighter also but I just think he is very basic and easy to work out. He has nothing that makes me think he is special and although I rate him as a fighter I just think he is too basic to dominate and that many fighters will 'have his number'. Maidana is a good fighter, but doesn't have much about him really, he will always be a top contender but never a champion.

Marquez is pretty much done, doesn't say too much when talking about fighting again, so he may have 1 or 2 fights left in him but nothing major. Matthyse again could dominate at LWW but I don't think he is big enough or smart enough to be a champion at Welterweight.

That leaves very few guys, Broner will be a good LWW but I don't think he will do it at Welterweight, then it leaves the prospects, like Erroll Spence Jnr and other guys and it is too soon to say any of those will be able to dominate at Welterweight. It is now wide open at the weight which is exciting but at the same time disappointing as the quality and the gloss of the division will dwindle away.

    Nobody will "reign".
The belts will be devided between 5 or 6 guys (thanks WBA) and they will avoid eachother as much as possible. And we get an extra PBC belt soon, which looks like will only be defended against their own and the Rod Salka's of this world.

Brook. Purely because he doesn't have just ONE style and can adjust to pretty much anybody. He can box and counter punch beautifully on the backfoot like he showed vs porter and he can be the aggressor and show his power like he has show in his numerous knock out wins.

Right now he is the only guy that I have confidence in, if not him then thurman for sure. Brook vs Thurman is defo the next big fight at 147.

I would go along with that.

I do think there are some really good matchups at the weight though and some good fights ahead if they are made.

Keith Thurman beats anyone at 147 and would give Floyd massive problems.

For me it will be between Thurman and Garcia. Kell needs a big name to get himself in contention for super fights in the USA. Someone like Marquez

You didn't just fail to put Gavin.. you failed to put in Gavin as the dark dark horse of the welterweight division.
