Canelo is a good boxer,BUT not GREAT like JMM-Morales-MAB!

Not only do I think he doesn't belong with any of the Mexican champions, I think he's a hack and has yet to show me any potential.
(and I used to be a huge Canelo fan)

Trout, Angulo, Lara are all handy wins. Trout was fairly close. Angulo got smacked around like a piñata which is no easy feat. Lara was very close but an acceptable win for cinnamon though I could see a case for Lara. The Mayweather loss was a joke of a performance but he did no less than Marquez and only slightly worse than Pacquiao. He is exciting and fights threats. Maybe he'll earn a Mayweather rematch for number 50 who knows. He has his limits but has his strengths no point ridiculing him for that.

So Canelo, Maidana, Castillo all deserve a rematch but people don't want to see a MAYPAC 2?

 

Never been all that impressed with Canelo, at least relative to his popularity and the attention he gets.

Decent champion, solid fighter. I don't see him being anything beyond that.

 

Alvarez is still young and improving as a fighter has shown he can hang tough with the best of his division outside of Mayweather, as far as the JMW landscape the only real threat is Andrade IMO, that's about it he's already fought and beat 2/3 of the top 5/6 in the division.
At MW just on the current landscape it's not too much there Cotto,Geale,Murray,Quillin ect... I wouldn't trust any if them to beat Canelo maybe a close fight or two.
A lot may not agree but Alvarez probably beats GGG if they fight after Canelo-Cotto, too much skill and big fight experience which isn't a discredit to GGG.
He may not reach Barrera but he has potential to be a good/great fighter and is well on his way, already a former unified JMW Champ, should hold Lara's "WBA" title right now.

Canelo is good

Needs a better trainer though

His hand speed is very good for a guy his size

Reflexes are pretty good too

 

Not sure anyone actually think he is as good as Marquez, Morales and Barrera.

 

I agree I don't think Canelo will ever be some all time great or anything, but he's fun to watch and the kid legitimately seeks out bigger challenges, so I'm a fan either way

 

Canelo has beaten and fought more legitimate fighters than GGG so I don't get the criticism.
People were harping on the Mayweather performance but given what we know now I don't see how you can hold too much fault there.
