Hello I am trying to educate myself more and trying to expand my horizons when it comes to boxing. I'm starting on Japanese fighters.

So can you guys give me some names of guys worth checking out? I'm not really looking at any particular weight class so any will do.

Naoya Inoue (a destructive guy who is the "rising star" of the country)
Shinsuke Yamanaka (Bantamweight kingpin with a killer left hand)
Koki Eto and Takuya Kogawa (limited warriors)
Ken Shiro (Youngster set to make a big name for himself)
Kosei Tanaka (the next rising star)

For the classic, check out Fighting Harada and Jinro Wantanabe. For the mondern, check out Daisuke Naito, Hozumi Hasegawa, the Kameda brothers and Toshiaki Nishioka.

For classic I'd also check out Yoko Gushiken

Inoue, Uchiyama, Miura, Ioka, Takayama, Murata, and the Kameda brothers are the current/reigning/recent crop to check out.

Kazuto Ioka is one of my favorites. Won his first title entering at 6-0 and won the first ever all Japanese title unification. Is now technically a 3 division champion in just 18 pro fights (two being secondary WBA titles). 5-1 record against top 10 ranked opponents.

-his KO shot of Oleydong Sithsamerchai was ridiculous. Oleydong was #1 at 105 lbs.
-great and close all action war with Akira Yaegashi to unify belts.
-watch his first round KO against Chalermchai.
-his KO's over Wisanu and Kwanthai in back-to-back 108 fights were great shots, as was his recent tune up KO at 112 against Perez.
-his recent 112 title fights with Ruenroeng, which he lost, and Reveco are highly relevant and worth watching if the above hasn't already intrigued or satisfied you enough.
-the other decisions he has over Alvarado and Hernandez were decent fights and both ranked as lower top 10 fighters, even if less pleasurable and relevant watches than the above listed.

All credit to boxing prospect for turning me onto these guys. I asked him about some of the less well known Japanese fighters and these were the ones I most enjoyed watching.

    Ken Shiro
    Shohei Omori
    Keita Obara
    Takuya Kogawa
    Kosei Tanaka

Kogawa had an awesome 8 round fight with Hisataka late last year.

If you want more fighter name I can add. If you know what type of fighter you usually like I be more accurate.
I like Suguru Muranaka, he always in fun fight but not hit hard.
Rikki Naito very good rising prospect.
Katsunari Takayama a blood and gut warrior.
Takuma Inoue very good pure boxer

I gotten my hands (read: downloaded) on some classic Japanese boxing fights that were wars. I will watch them when I get the time :)

But this will be a nice thread for myself as I want to also know more about Japanese fighters (and fights).

Ken Shiro's third bout saw him taking on an unbeaten guy who was naturally much bigger. Absolute exhibition stuff from the youngster.
