That fits in with 'hit and don't get hit' I guess. Since aggression is not rewarded that would qualify as win though right?

In all truth, there's isn't that many people who TRULY enjoy watching a defensive fighter who doesn't engage. They just defend the style because a guy they support used it to win.

In light of Saturday's total disappointment of a "Fight of the Century" it basically gives Mayweather fans free reign to inform anyone who didn't enjoy the fight that "they aren't true boxing fans"....or, "they don't understand the sweet science" or, one of my favorites:"If you didn't enjoy that then YDKSAB" (cringe)....

Whilst I was in no way surprised at the outcome of the fight, (I always knew it would be a Floyd UD), I was still hugely disappointed. Both fighters had no willingness to earn that huge chunk of money they pocketed, Floyd was happy to do the minimum and Pacquiao was just poor, with a complete lack of warrior instinct. Neither were willing out go out on their shield and give the fans what they really want. It was an absolute let-down and anyone who pretends they genuinely enjoyed watching that is like one of those d1cks who defends a ****py, art-house film because "they understood the cinematography" or the "subliminal message about society as a whole"....or some stupid shlt like that. Bottom line - it sucked.

Imagine if every fight in boxing was like the snooze-fest on Saturday....?

How many "fans" would the sport have then?

Mayweather and Pacquiao ripped off everyone and they're set to do it again. Shameful.

    Great Post.

George Foreman > FMJ in my book for exactly that. Its about excitment and ko's, not unblemished records and points victories.

all styles are viable and there are many different ways to win. that "sweet science, hit and not get hit" condescension is like when vegan think you are a face first mindless barbarian brawler for eating meat.

anyways, before boxing was the sweet science, wasn't it the sweet science of bruising?

Mayweather did Mayweather and didn't rip off anybody. Lying ass faking ass Pac and his team are the ripoff artist. The one who was supposed to bring the pain, didn't bring nothing but excuses in the ring.

While I agree with the OP, and defensive boxing has surely gained a great deal more ground since point scoring replaced the fight to the finish, there is still the ancient example of Melankomas.

    Yes, I'm saying it's definitely a win.
But it's not the pinnacle of boxing for me.
I'd rather see more punches. :good

  12. A lot of losers trying to be winners? Let's make winning bad, and losing good. That way
We can make losing seem better.

His many alts does PAC have on here?

I thought that "styles make fights".

Of course when the guy people hate wins, they want everyone to fight the same stupid rock 'em, sock em, robots style.

They want to change scoring, change the rules, to make all fights look the same.

The beauty of boxing is that there are different guys that fight different styles.

Floyd Mayweather Jr, may not entertain some. For them they should seek out others like Ruslan, GGG, or Kovalev etc.

When I want to see defensive artist I watch Floyd, when I want aggression and offense I watch someone else. But only a whiny moron watches one and expects the other and whines when they dont get it.

Do you know what it takes to be an artful boxer and what is an artful boxer. What's your favorite style of boxing and who's fights do you like to watch more than any other and why?
