Sometimes they show you the punch stats live throughout the round. I've seen them count blocked punches as landed before. Wasn't aware that it's the crew at HBO who do compuBox. Very interesting
Never liked this ****, yet, people not up on tha' game BELIEVE this **** and always yell, look at the numbers. When they put that stupid dummy up there 'showing' where the shots landed, that's REALLY some bull****.
They should be taken with a grain of salt. It's just people pushing buttons for world class fighters who are very fast and can pull back from punches at the last split second. It's got to be a hard job to get the punch stats accurate. Just remember this, it had Tony Thompson outlanding Wladimir Klitschko in their first fight.
It's entirely reliant on two people's perception of what they're seeing in a fast, frantic and sometimes messy sport. It's a guideline. You can use it to back up your opinion of a fight, but not to prove one way or another.
yes they are deceiving because bowe landed much more punches then holyfield in the 2nd fight via compubox... by looking at the digits it seems as though bowe won ...but when you score it rd by rd .........there is no doubt holyfield won
