What was the best Televised card in recent years? ESPN/Showtime/boxnation/HBO/NBC/CBS/Spike, any are valid. I am mainly thinking about match ups, where high rated fighters face each other... The #1 in my recent memory was Showtime December 7 2013. Bika vs Dirrell Alexander vs Porter Paulie vs Zab Lara vs Trout all decently rated boxers fighting each other.
Fuji TV last year had Murata vs Nicklow, Inoue vs Narvaez, Yaegashi vs Guevara and Linares vs Prieto on free TV
In terms of action Medoza Vs Garcia-Hirales/Salido Vs Terdsak is hard to beat, only 2 televised cards but both were FOTY contenders, likewise Gonzalez Vs Estrada/Viloria Vs Marquez
I was impressed that they had Garcia-Matthysee on that. That was a decent fight and two good fighters. Very solid. They really should have saved a match like that for May/Pac, in order to get more casuals turned on to boxing.
March 19th 2005 had Pacquioa vs Morales I with Arce vs Hussein as an undercard. Both were candidates for fight of the year. November 17th, 2012 had four of the best flyweights square off. Roman Gonzalez and Juan Fransisco Estrada had a great fight on the undercard of Viloria vs Marquez, also a notable fight.
Paulie/Zab, Trout/Lara weren't good fights. Both one sided, even the Alexander/Porter fight was fairly one sided. Name wise I agree, but competitively not very good.
Probably a New Years Eve Japanese card... Lots of cards bring different things to the table. My only big fight experience was Mayweather vs. Ortiz and I can say I've seen Erik Morales (last career victory), Adonis Stevenson (future champ; rocket KO1 vs. Dion Savage), Jessie Vargas (future champ), Josesito Lopez (lots of big fights to follow), Carson Jones (roughed up Roger-trained Said Ouali), Pablo Cesar Cano (epic cut!), Anthony Crolla (his "split decision" win is not accurate; he won an easy 6-2 sort of fight) Marco Antonio Periban (notable enough for an undercard opener)... Funny to think back at my opinion of each at the time and what they have done in the time since. Needless to say all of Adonis, Vargas, Josesito, and Crolla more than impressed since.
Last year Showtime and HBO each went head to head on December 13th. This day had me very excited but largely disappointed in the end. Showtime Amir Khan vs. Devon Alexander Keith Thurman vs. Leonard Bundu Abner Mares vs. Jose Ramirez + both Charlo brothers, Victor Ortiz, Beibut Shumenov, Errol Spence. HBO Tim Bradley vs. Diego Chaves Mauricio Herrera vs. Jose Benavidez Matt Korobov vs. Andy Lee + Denis Shafikov, Mikael Zewski, Sean Monaghan.
