and should fight each other. Deal with it.

Cotto, Alvarez, GGG, Ward, Kovalev, and Stevenson are commonly floated around by people insisting that one guy is too big for the other, etc. Here are their most recent unofficial weights:

    Kovalev 189 (Pascal)
    Stevenson 189 (Bellew)
    Ward 176 (Dawson)
    Golovkin 173 (Rubio)
    Alvarez 172 (Trout)
    Cotto...likely in the 165-170 range..169 at 30-day weigh-in

And just for fun, here's the most recent info I could find on some others:

    Pascal 185 (Kovalev)
    Hopkins 182 (Kovalev)
    Angulo 174 (Lara)
    Trout 172 (Alvarez)
    Lara 170.5 (Smith)
    Jermall 170 (Botai)
    Quillin 170 (Rosado)
    Kirkland 168 (Tapia)
    Lee 167.5 (Korobov)
    Andrade 166 (Martirosyan)
    Peterson 165 (Garcia)
    Rios 163 (Alvarado III)
    Thurman 162 (Guerrero)
    Broner 157 (Molina)
    Garcia 157 (Peterson)
    Bradley 156 (Chaves)
    Algieri 155 (Pacquiao)
    Herrera 154 (Benavidez)
    Molina 154 (Broner)
    Crawford 153+ (Beltran)
    Floyd 152+ (Alvarez)
    Guerrero 152 (Thurman)
    Pacquiao 152 (Floyd)
    Benavidez 150 (Herrera)
    Matthysse 153 (Peterson)
    JMM 148 (Alvarado)
    Vargas 148
    Provodnikov 148
    Salido 147 (Lomachenko)
    Garcia 142
    Gradovich 140
    Russell 138.5 (Lomachenko)
    Walters 138
    Lomachenko 138 (Russell)

I'm sorry. But when was the last time that any of those three weighed in at 172?!

Weight classes are determined by what you weigh at the weigh in the day before, not what you weigh the night of the fight (even if that is the superior option).

Ward was 176 in 2012 though and it's the only recorded weight we have of his. Golovkin was 167 and 168 at the same time and Kovalev was 181 in 2013.

This isn't about weight classes, it's about how much the fighters actually weigh.

The point is, size is not an excuse for those 3 to avoid each other.

Ward could conceivably say that he's not comfortable with Kovalev's size advantage, and Cotto could say he's not comfortable with Ward's size advantage. But if guys are separated by a couple of pounds, they have no excuse.

This is true. Ward could weigh a lot more now, but he also might not. I'm sure CURRENTLY he weighs a lot more due to the layoff, but his optimal fighting weight could be in the mid-170's still.

GGG's weight wasn't shown against Murray, so for all we know he could be getting closer to 175ish. His weight had been trending upward going into the Rubio fight.

Kovalev's weight has been shown in all his recent fights and has gone up in each one.

Alvarez's weight is all over the place. He started in the high 160's and went up to 172, then cut to 165 for Floyd. I would assume he's weighing around 172-175 now.

Cotto is a major b!tch and never shows his weight. He was 159 when he fought at 140, though, so that should give some indication.

    I hear you.

    From mid March this year

    [YT]czfNgmO3JdE[/YT]

Ward and his trainer Virgin Hunter say Ward walks around at about 179-180, Golovkin said he was 167 in that vid (out of training). Ward also trains year round and keeps himself in shape.

Hunter said this not long ago

'Any fighter who walks around at 178-9 - 10 lbs off the weight - is just not a LHW yet''

But that's exactly what they want Golovkin to do.

''Not once have we ever said that we'd fight everyone from '68' to '75. Not once!''

    --Virgin Hunter

    Ward said this in 2012.

"I am ready to fight the best 168- and 175-pounders that are out there," Ward told ESPN.com in a recent interview. "At this point, a big fight at 175 is interesting to me. I don't want to go up just to go up. But for the right fight, for a big fight, I would go up. I'm willing to fight anyone at '68 or '75."

    And again

“People ask me on the street or on Twitter when I'm coming back,” said Ward, who is expecting his fourth child with wife Tiffiney in mid-June. “Well, I'm coming. I want Bute but I'm ready for any big fight at 168 or 175 pounds.”

“By 32 years old, Andre Ward will be heavyweight champion of the world,” says the confident trainer. “He has always beaten guys bigger than him, even in the amateurs. If Andre gets to 200 pounds naturally and maybe grows an inch taller, he could become heavyweight champion absolutely.”

    ---Virgil Hunter

    Ward's 31

“I have already told people, that when Andre becomes champion there will be very few people that go the distance with him. You know, I listen to people talk about his punching power, but I think that he can hit just as hard as anybody out there, and they (the critics) don’t know that. Now that he is a champ, and you include that extra twenty five to thirty percent of confidence, I am going to start calling for the knockout. You see, I never used to call for it before. But believe me he could knock out anybody out there. And he could hit as hard as anybody out there. But the critics don’t believe that. They will believe that when it starts happening.

    ---Virgil Hunter

'But in the meantime Ward has decided to do some wide-open preaching with his mouth, claiming in an interview with ESNews that heavyweight twin-peaks Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko are possible future targets for the current 168-pound world champion.

“I want to [challenge for a world heavyweight title], I’ve talked about that since I’ve been a kid,” Ward said, apparently straight-faced. “It seems crazy right now, but I’m not gonna be [one-hundred and] sixty-eight [pounds] forever.”

“You got to fight the right heavyweight,” he admitted, but added: “As a fighter, I believe I could beat a Klitschko… I’m wired to believe that…I think it could happen, absolutely.”

Dawson and Edwin Rodriguez were both as big as Kovalev. Rodriguez walks around at 217lbs when he was fighting at 168-171. He looked like a skeleton on the scales for the next day rehydration clause of 180 on the morning of the Ward fight.

Lee would appear to be more in line with light middle than middle going by these weights

Funny that you Mention Ward's weight from ****ing years ago...

You say he fights at 176, yet cannot make 168 anymore (which his next fight at 172 indicates)?Laughable.

Floyd was 150 for Alvarez and 148 for Maidana 1.
