Why in gods name do people want Mayweather vs Canelo II?

Never really thought about that rematch but since you guys bring it up it's not as bad as one would think. A non-drained and more experienced Canelo might do better this time vs the older Floyd.

 

Yeah, I can see him doing better too... Considering Canelo is still in learning mode, he might have picked up a page from the Maidana blue-print and may very well executed it better than Maidana did...

Canelo is 24 and still a student as we can see his progress fight after fight.

 

So...People are against Mayweather vs Canelo/Pac II but we're cool with Abraham vs Stieglitz IV :blood

 

It's stealth floyd fans trying to get him yet another good style matchup fight to add to his other 47 good style matchups.

No head movement , check
Stamina issues gasses second half of fights, check
Not at all rangey shorter reach, check
Preferrably a non existant jab, check
Has looked bad against other opponents / had controversial wins, check.

 

He didn't really deal with Lara even though I felt he won a close decision, I just can't see him getting to floyd, some styles just don't match well, for example Pacquiao would beat the dog**** out of Maidana yet struggle with Marquez and vice versa with Mayweather, Canelo as great a talent as he is proving, has his limitations. He ain't a pressure fighter, he plods and has suspect stamina still, heavy handed, impressive at putting a few punches together, chin's not really been tested yet but he's no slouch defensively either, not exactly adept but it's decent enough. Experience might help win 2 more rounds but nowhere near the fight. He was green but capable at the time, he got what he asked for anyway.

 

Who is asking for that? Because he knocked out Kirkland? :huh

 

Definitely not Mayweather's next opponent. HBO/Showtime are not going to get back together this soon to do another PPV (unless its May/Pac 2). I could see it happening after Mayweather completes his deal against somebody else.

 

He didn't lose that fight with Mayweather because of the 2 lbs or because he was slow.

He lost that match from the very first round when he decided his best gameplan was to try and outbox him, and than actually attempted it for the remainder of the fight in a very predictable manner.

He's too slow and flat footed. Great fighter to watch though if his opposition is willing to trade with him in the pocket.

 

I'd much rather see him fight Cotto. That's the only fight that really makes any sense.

Cotto is one of a handful of guys in the entire sport that's still considered a draw. A fight with him and Mayweather for the lineal Middleweight championship would hold a lot of merit to it. He's looked much better since hooking up with Freddie ROach (another side plot to the fight build up.)

I'd imagine that fight could eclipse over 1 million buys and depending on how Pacman looks against another fighter, it could set up Mayweather and Manny for next may if Floyd wants to grant him that rematch.

But first, take on Miguel for that 5th lineal championship.
