May-Pac PPV number projected @ 5.5 buys; official #: 4.4 million

Fock the casuals. I thank them for throwing money at boxing and keeping it's name alive. I have'nt read so many articles in a long time about boxing like it is now. All publicity is good publicity. Whether the fight was or was'nt what people expected they watched and will probably check out new fighters just to compare how better their fight was to MAY/PAC.
Does not matter what happens now the money is spent and people are talking.

Yep, but we missed the chance of getting in people to like boxing more. What Floyd shown isn't exactly entry level.

 

Casuals are fickle. The next Boxing fight that captures the imagination of the public will see the casuals interested again. That's the whole point about casual fans. The idea that this fight will now mean the casuals won't be interested in any Boxing going forward is absolutely ridiculous.

Lastly this PPV number can only be seen as a great thing for the sport.

Oh and those who claimed Mayweather promotions had no clue and the fight wouldn't do as well as expected because of them need to eat some crow.

 

It does paint an interesting picture though.

Floyd knows he requires a credible threat that has good backing in order to do good business because ultimately his style is not casual fan friendly and people tune in more so to see how Fighter X manages against Floyd.

Since Baldomir, Floyd has fought back to back (excluding the break) a series of guys that although he was the favorite, had been seen in certain corners as someone who could trouble him. The only possible exception to this in my view was Marquez, which was his comeback fight from a long layoff. Ironically I still say Marquez is one of the best Floyd faced.

Ultimately, it leads me to believe he can't do the Thurman/Golovkin/Brook fights because they simply won't get him near the 1m standard PPV mark that he's got to pretty much with every fight since Hatton.

Amir Khan is seen by some as having the right offensive skills to be able to challenge Floyd and brings in that big UK audience. He'll definitely be the next one for Floyd and I can almost guarantee you the numbers will top 1M again.

Conclusion?. Ret.ards like you existed before 2002, after it(as proven) and will forever exist. Oh, and since when were Boxers penalized for movement?. By that logic, I guess the entire amateur boxing program should be banned too. Moron.

 

Its not dead but it's hard to bring back that 3M more ppv buyers.. Normal superfights will remain at 1M

 

Yeah, but look at other PPV sports and realise that boxing has quite a few fighters all capable of 500k - 1M buys.

I'd say it's actually in a healthier position than it was when De La Hoya was the only guy capable of the 1M buy during his career.

 

Yep thats why its current state is still very Ok for me.. Kudos to boxing for that 4.4 ppv.. By the way is there Any other sports or show that tops that??

 

Compare it to UFC, when everyone says "MMA is killing boxing" - MMA hasn't done 1M since Brock Lesnar was involved. They're lucky if they do 400k a PPV and that's scary considering they've got full control over match making and can (and often do) put stacked cards together in a way boxing simply cannot anymore.
