Am i the only one who thinks Khan has not improved?

Exactly. Until he fights the type of fighter that has given him problems or KOd him (Garcia, Peterson, Maidana etc) and beats them convincingly, any perceived "improvement" is pure speculation.

I don't see it myself. All he's beaten is hand-picked opponents who suit his style.

IMO, the Khan that beat Paulie 5 years ago would have beaten Alexander.

 

I prefer the khan with roach but I do think he's better able I deal with big punchers and pressure fighters now

 

The one fighter with a left hook he fought recently, Diaz, clocked him

Khan has not improved. But hes exciting to watch. You never know if he doesn't get knocked out by the next jab.

 

While it's true Khan has not yet tested his new style against a puncher or a good counter punch and it seems unlikely we will see him do so any time soon, he has made improvements.

If you understood what he was doing wrong in the first place then you can see these improvements if you didn't then the changes and their significance are beyond your understanding.

Khan did improve under Roach, but Roach never addressed Khan's flaws, he added to Khan's a.rsenal but didn't fix his weaknesses.

The 2 times Khan's been KO'ed he was caught throwing a combination by a counter. Hunter now has Khan throwing more single shots and throwing fewer big combinations to minimise his opponents opportunities to counter.

Khan has learned to counter, he never knew how to counter punch before which meant he couldn't transition from offense to defence quickly making him predictable. Now when his opponent misses he counters where before he just danced off like a fairy allowing them to keep pushing him back.

Khan still does throw himself out of position, especially with the right hand, but does it less and when he does do it, he now knows how to clinch to prevent the counter and force a reset.

Khan now knows how to clinch correctly. Control the head, tie up one arm, use shoulder and elbows to create space to work inside. Before Khan just used to grab his opponents around the shoulders which is easy to punch through, break away from and push back as Khan feet would be squared up meaning he was off balance.

Khan is still far from the fighter he could have been with his talent, he's wasted much of the first 7 or 8 years of his pro career fighting in a counter productive style but is finally learning how to box to his attributes.

The big question is can Khan keep it together and not fall into bad habits when under pressure or if we will see him test these new skills in the first place because currently he's being heavily protected.

 

Khan does things he never knew how to do in the past - He knows how to position himself and control the ring. That is an improvement. Whether he has improved overall as a fighter it's hard to say maybe....Should stick him in with Maidana again (who also has improved)... see how Khan deals with him with his new ring generalship.

 

I am thoroughly convinced that he is the same fighter. Every fighter he has faced he would've beaten pre-Hunter, the level that they are he is able to do more and use "tactics" he has been taught by Hunter. These guys wouldn't have ever given either incarnation of Khan much trouble. Let me know when Khan faces someone that he would have real issues with and sticks to the gameplan

 

He now holds when hurt. That's an improvement!

He clearly engages less on the inside or after he's been stung. He has more of a focus on his defense. There's no doubt in my mind that Khan's style under Hunter is very different than under Roaches, and *should* match up better against a big puncher. Whether it does or not remains to be seen however.

I still think there are plenty that catch and KO him.

Floyd UDs him but it's a fight that I want to see. He could trouble Floyd.

 

It didn't take long at all atsch Khan was willing to fight anyone at 140.

All the forum girls were religiously saying Khan would avoid him - Then Khan called him out and offered him the fight - Maidana almost tried to price himself out infact.

Maidana was the boogyman after beating Ortiz into submission. Khan fought Maidana whilst Alexander & Bradley fought each other then the winner of them two fights was mean't to meet but Bradley ran to 147 (No surprise after the horrible Alexander Bradley fight whilst Khan Maidana got FOTY)
