The man never got hit flush, he took it all on the gloves, or avoided with outstanding upper body movement. I'm suprised people talk about his chin so much, it was decent but remember Marvin Hagler was a slick as the Gulf of Mexico.

Hagler was a superb boxer/puncher he never put himself in the way of harm. His knockouts didn't come from beating on his opponent relentlessly, nothing particularly macho about haglers style - his stoppages, they come from dazzling his opponent into submission with sweet southpaw skills, he was the middleweight sweetpea. Or shall I say Whitaker was lightweight hagler.

Hearns was simply outboxed by hagler, his legs were gone trying to chase hagler around the ring, hagler tied him in knots then pulled the knot!
Hagler made Leonard look boorish and foolish, it was a schooling.
Hagler completely nullified mugabi's power, it was a work of art.
Marvin stood in the pocket with roberto Duran, he even gave roberto a few rounds, he clearly had the timing down to a tee, and ran off with the bout.
Marvin was booed and racially attacked by the English mob when he made alan minter a pizza face, this wasn't a beating, it was a just a fine show of the sweet science being orchestrated by one of the greatest, slickest, stick and movers middleweight champions in history.

Ggg on the other hand is a defenceless peice of ****, his power is severely overated and he has no chin, none!

    What the ****? :patsch

    1. Yes Hagler had a great defense along with his cast granite chin.

    2. GGG's defense is leaky :patschut the dude has power and he has a great chin.

    3. I never would have expected this thread from you. You like Thurman and Kovalev but dislike GGG? Why?

Terrible attempt at sarcasm considering prime Hagler was many of the things you said (awesome boxer-puncher with a tight defence and some of the most beautiful footwork around). Only late in his career when his legs had gone and his skills eroded was when he became the face first puncher that most casual fans know him by from the Hearns, Mugabi and SRL fights.

Seriously you can't compare this guy to the GGG from tonight in any way, shape or form (not to dis Golovkin, he is clearly great at what he does)

He's talking ****e. OP's just trying to deflect criticism of GGG's defence by making this sarcastic thread trying to point out Hagler's own defensive flaws, without knowing that Marvin was a brilliant boxer in his own right.

Hagler had solid defensive skills and good movement. He started to slow down by the Roldan fight in 84' and was easier to hit, and lacked the legs he once had.

I'm glad most of the general forum seems pretty educated on Hagler and I hear much less of the stupid "Hagler was a brawler" myth.

haglers best defense was fighting smaller fighters, and never daring move up.

I'd pick sibbo over everyone GGG has faced..but Genns would get him, probably quite brutally.

Tony Sibson was an excellent fighter and a very good puncher. He was much better than Murray, Macklin and Barker. A Sibbo-GGG fight would have been fun to watch for however long it lasted. I would pick GGG to win by mid round ko but Sibbo would have had his moments and GGG could not have afforded to have taken too many liberties with Tony thats for sure.

You are aware that Hagler was a relatively small MW who was never going to move up to 175. SRL was taller than Hagler ffs. And the SMW division was only seriously recognised as a boxing division in 84, 87 and 88 and since Marvin never fought after the Leonard fight in early 87 that meant only (at the time) extremely unfashionable IBF belt was available. And if you look at who held that belt and who Marvin fought it is clear he took on far more dangerous fighters than the IBF SMW champs. Anothet poseur wannabe boxing fan who clearly dksab.

:good If it was started as a sarcastic thread then I guess his lack of boxing knowledge has seriously embarrassed him.

I love point 3. I can almost feel your anguish and bewilderment. :rofl If the guy likes Thurman and Kovalev that means he HAS to like GGG??? Why?? You really are a wonderful example of a complete moron.
