I'm not saying that Abraham is as good as GGG but I will point out many in this forum thought he was "the real deal" and expected him to win the SMW competition when he entered.

He was 31-0 with 25 knock outs. He had arguably faced tougher opponents than GGG and until his DQ loss, he had bested pretty much every single one of them. (Jermain Taylor, Edison Miranda, Raul Marquez,

He then started to meet stiffer competition in guys like Froch and suddenly he didn't look so good. He's now 42-4 with 28 knock outs

Let's just keep some perspective on GGG and not see the "He's the greatest fighter since...." until he's stepped in with someone a little tougher than Monroe or Geale, who realistically are probably Edison Miranda's level and not much more.

My thread on AA laid out the same parallels I saw between the two of them, that's why I'm not thrilled by the idea of GGG moving up to SMW, I think he's to small to compete and his power will noticeably diminish.

Good thread but GGG hits harder than Abraham and has better amateur experience. I think if Abraham thought he's as good as GGG he'd come back to mw instead of holding a paper belt at smw.

GGG fought and beat the likes of Korobov, Andy Lee and Lucian Bute(KO) in the amateurs. He was always a world class boxer since his teens. Arthur wasnt. He did have a fairly successful pro career but he is no match to GGG. Andre Ward was world class since amateurs, comparing GGG to him would make more sense.

Joe Calzaghe beat Chris Byrd in the amateurs, does that mean Calzaghe would've been a HW champion?

Paea Wolfgramm beat Wladimir Klitschko in the amateurs, does that make him an ATG HW?

It's sad when your best wins came in the amateurs.

Are you sure about these? I just checked and from what I could find Calzaghe never even fought Byrd and Wolfgramm never beat Klitschko.

Byrd was KO'ed in his last amateur fight by Calzaghe.

Paea Wolfgramm beat Wladimir in a tournament prior to the olympic games where they fought.

Well this is off topic and with all due respect but Im pretty sure there would be a footage or record somewhere. In another forum I have found a comment where Byrd says he never fought Calzaghe. It must be an urban legend.

In any case its a difficult task to use Calzaghe to make a negative point.

It's not an urban legend, both guys have confirmed that the fight happened.

Its just not an interesting comparison. Abe is a crude boxer, he was taught by Wegner to cover up then flurry when the other guy tires out. His MW comp was a bit worse than GGG, and he often struggled and dropped rounds to the likes of Simon and Ayala

Explain to me how Jermain Taylor, Edison Miranda and Raul Marquez are weaker than Monroe and Geale?
