Dawson can be fast and slick when he decides to box but he all too often holds his feet and stays in range after throwing and against Ward he tried to use his perceived size advantage to pressure Ward and it failed horribly.

So while Ward did technically beat a slick, fast boxer, he didn't actually fight a slick, fast boxer that night. That combined with Dawson being drained kind of takes something away from this win.

Personally I think Ward would have had no problems had Dawson tried to actually box. He took away Dawson's jab very early on and was able to step inside without much difficulty. Ward's footwork is amazing and I can't see anyone near his weight that could outbox him if they tried.

Of course not. Slick fighters give everyone troubles, and ward only fights plodders and zombies.

And Ward would still win easily, in a fight people will label "boring" to dismiss the brilliance and invincibility of Ward

Ward should be fighting at LHW. He was a LHW in amateurs anyway. He's just too big for SMW, coupled with his skills, he's practically unbeatable. He'd be a great opponent for Kovalev. Easily FOTY.

Ward was great a couple of years a go but he has hardly fought much in three years and i do wonder if that may have diminished his talent a little.

Mayweather hadn't fought for 2 years when he picked apart JMM. As long as he's kept in shape and had decent sparring he'll be fine.

Yeah people will think this guy is a robot or super human as he is just simply invincible and will demand medical checks...this guy's brilliance cannot be explained logically...he's just so good

Ward doesn't seem to be very confident when it comes to fight some with Slickness. He ducked Andre Dirrell during Super Six, and after the tournament he ducked Lucian Bute, who seemed Slick until Carl Froch cavemaned him.

Dawson is the only fighter Ward has fought who can aspire on having Slickness, but he was drained on the night, so we can't assume to much from that win.

The jury is still pretty much out. It's up to Ward to show us all what he's made off. If he stays in Oakland and promptly avoid anyone who is Slick, it will be hard to take him seriously :think

Its true Ward has feasted on euro plodders, his best win is over tailor made caveman the Slobra Carl Froch. He flat out refuses to fight Andre Dirrell...

Still i've seen enough to tell me he beats Golovkin 12-0 which is what this thread is really about.
