Ward should not be forced to move to 175. There are weight divisions for a reason.

I think Kovalev would accept 172lb cw. Doubt Ward'd take it.

 

Irony of all this is that Ward is fighting at LHW in his next fight. Paul Smith is a 168lb fighter, Ward used to be a 168lb fighter. Layoffs, age and the fact this is being contested at a catch weight of 172 suggest that Ward is struggling to make 168. He could likely make the weight, but he'd more than likely be a walking corpse like Chad Dawson was.

On the plus side we should get to see Ward vs Kovalev at some point, which would be epic. I'd love to see if Ward's skills could neutralize Kovalev's brute power, work rate and under rated boxing skill. I'd lean towards a Kovalev late knockout, as I don't think Ward can stop Krusher from setting the pace, which (if the way he was gassed against Froch in the championship rounds) would spell disaster for him.

 

So Kovalev - Ward at 168 is fair but Ward - GGG at 160 is not?
