James Degale vs Andre Dirrell

Hopefully Degale has outgrown his old poor habit of getting stuck on the ropes trusting his inside game too much and then freezing. He hasn't shown it recently but Dirrell is a step up, albeit it he hasn't looked as good in recent years. This is a big test of how good Degale can be - not just in terms of boxing ability but character and mind.

 

I think his best chance is roughing Dirrell up though on the inside. Dirrell likes a 'gentlemen's' type fight where he box at a pace he's comfortable and preferably at range. Degale clipping him at close quarters could lead to Dirrell falling apart at the seams.

Agree that it's a test most all of Degale's maturity and character. I do think he will make fight the wrong fight at the start and then come on strong. Might be a case of a too little too late.

 

Degale has looked much better since he had his shoulder fixed. I think he can stop dirrel unless of course dirrel just runs and runs

 

I've said all along that this fight will be an absolute stinker!

I think it will be a stinker too unless degale really comes at him but then dirrel will most likely go in marathon mode and run. I hear all these people big up the dirrels and say they are going to be great and have all these mad skills i have never seen that from either of them. They have beat mainly no ones and lost in their biggest fights and looked awlful on countless times and a real bore

I didn't like Degale while the groves v degale fight was building up. But since then he has gone up in my estimations, he seems to have found the next level and i truly believe he will win over in the US on points.

Dirrell will be a test for him for sure but his skills are not as good as a red hot Degale. Lets hope we get another World champion from these shores

He's like an downgraded junky version of a Lee Froch.

 

Name me a world title fight that happened in the afternoon here in the UK in the past year? Or 5 seeing as it's most weekends, apparently.

 

Badou Jack done a great job against Anthony because of his better inside game. I hope Degale does the same against Andre.

 

Maybe history will be made and we will have our first Olympic champ and pro world title holder.
