You can take away defense and only have hitting and you would still have fight but, you can't take hitting leaving only defense and have a fight or boxing match etc. That's what people don't seem to understand, hitting/attacking is inarguably the primary component of a fight, not defense as some seem to have it backward. And hit not get is a style just like CST said, it is not synonymous with boxing. Boxing is just as Kirk put it, whatever game plan works for you to win the fight because believe it or not, even the guys we see as mindless sock rockem robots are trained professional fighters who know exactly what they are getting themselves into.

Just because it looks like they have no game plan to us that is actually not true, their game plan is to overwhelm, to relentlessly attack with their knowledge of throwing hard shots and athleticism to carry it out in order to KO, win rounds, break the will or spirit of in order to win the fight. The fact is they are still are athletes that have and are following a game plan...it's just not one that I many prefer but, it is definitely still boxing.

It's the sweet science. Not sour grape science when a fighter like #48 gets schooled, then start whining.

I know various pundits, commentators, media, have drilled it into your head that boxing and the sweet science is one in the same but I assure you it's not. Try to think of it this way, where on earth would the term "boxing" come from? I propose this theory which makes perfect sense to me. If we think of a fighter (especially ones back in the day) coming forward trying to impose their will and we think of the constant forward and side strafing motions as they try to cutoff the ring and "box" their opponent into a corner allowing them no exit, it's easy to deduce that's where the term came from.

You can see the term would've come about from aggressive fighters, not defensive ones. Even the motions made from attempting to cutoff the ring has them moving in a square type fashion as they try to position their opponent into a corner, which can then be construed as the action of boxing. (box=square) I just can't see where else the term would've came from for as long as it's been around. Now, if it were a more recent term you could see it being used to describe a runner running around the four corners of the ring and subsequently that being described as boxing but that's not the case. The term has been around long before any fighters fought like that.

It's actually good for the sport though. No way Floyd vs Pac would have gotten 4 and a half million buys without this stigma. So we just have to nod and laugh as the "Just ****en knock em out!" crowd keeps throwing money at fighters and gives more incentive for top talent to train hard and flourish in the sport.

Just look at UFC. It's a ****ing stupid sport where the best way to win is hug your opponent against the cage or mat to wear them out THEN go to work on them. But they market it with blood and knockouts so they make some decent money.

People are mad because not all fighter can do what Floyd can do. Can Rios fight like Floyd ,hell no ,can Pac fight like Floyd ,hell no ,I can list more and more but I'm wasting data right about now.

Why can't people accept that Floyd does run some. Call it hit and not get hit all you want but he does like putting 5-10 feet between him and his opponents when those opponents are attacking. He is the only fighter who makes that ridiculous face when it looks like his opponent may land on him...

Don't get mad, you mthrfkrs pay for his fights

Boxing is not a science, it's a combat sport and floyd makes very little contact

it's like in a war/fight, the goal is to conquer. how can you conquer when you are always defending and do just a little attack. fighting is more on attacking to inflict damage and defending to limit your injury and longevity. it's not always defending to limit your injury and attack a little just for show, no you don't conquer this way.

Only scoring punches are counted as contact on the cards as a rule. Floyd uses that to his advantage. Boxing is not just a combat sport. It's a martial art. There is a science to it. Science is a skill by definition. Saying boxing is not a science is ignorant.

A bunch of dumbasses who have never boxed trying to say what's boring or what the sport is about. Floyd did the same thing he does now when he was younger. Hit and don't get hit and the only difference is in his younger days he was lighting cats up with combinations and stopping them. Regardless of styles the point is to hit and not get hit. Period. I boxed as an amateur from the age of 7 to 17 and you hit and dont get hit. If Floyd could go back to being 23 physically you would have seen him offensively lighting Pac up all while making him miss. Go join a real boxing gym and say some of the **** you say and the trainer and fighters will tell some of you to shut the **** up.
