Did anyone actually hear what McDonnell was saying in the corner?

You clearly didn't watch the fight. How can you say Dirrell is a massive SMW when DeGale clearly had the physical advantages? Absolute rubbish.

Ha ha, thanks for your feedback. You do know it is possible for more than one fighter to be big at the weight? DeGale himself is large at super middleweight. Dirrell is 6 ft 1 and with a huge reach. I wouldn't necessarily say that DeGale had obvious physical advantages given the Dirrell was holding the middle of the ring alot and DeGale was trying to fight in and out of range. Dirrell also pushed DeGale back against the ropes several times towards the later part of the fight. Dirrell has been at Super Middle since he turned pro and in pretty much all his tune up fights for this one he was weighing in over 168, into the early-mid 170s on some occasions. He also looked very dry at the weigh in. I wouldn't be surprised if he moved up to LH. He certainly is a big super middleweight, hardly a fighter who has come up through the weight classes. Compare him to Paul Smith, AA, Sturm etc. He didn't exactly look small when he fought Froch either!

Your point about DeGale 'being in trouble' when he fights someone with more power is way off the mark as well. Froch was shaken by Dirrell in their fight and DeGale was never in serious trouble. The difference in my opinion was that Dirrell has punch resistance issues himself. Who are these bangers are Super Middleweight thaat are going to cause DeGale problems?! Bear in mind he has never been down as a pro (as far as I can remember) and has also fought GG (who is not exactly feather fisted).

Have a think about it mate and it would nice to hear you be a little be more reasoned and self evaluate your own shortcomings.

It was a good win last night. I was surprised the judges gave it him. It was a close fight. Degale can always say he achieved everything he wanted to as a boxer. World champ and gold medal winner.

I think Dirrell is a good fighter and a tough guy to beat away from home. I expect degale to get a few easy defences in and grow as a champion. I would like him to fight Froch because it's a 50/50 fight. A good domestic fight as well. If not then groves v jack winner.

There's worse trainers than McDonnell.. and ultimately a trainer isn't gonna change your style.

A trainer can improve your jab.. but if you don't use it etc.

So you win a world title and change your trainer???

Degales only loss is a MD to groves, who incidently thought the grass would be greener by leaving his trainer, and got his **** handed to him (which incidently happened at Wembley stadioum in front of 80,000 people)

Solaris comming out with ludicrous comments the guy is not right in the head.

Well done to Degale and his team. Hope he and Groves can get it on for a unification.

Degale should go after Abraham in the meantime.

there are some attention seeking bellends on here ,im not sure what they get out of it

Degale was brilliant last night and it is fantastic to see loyalty...

there is a lot to be said for loyalty..look at Froch/MCCracken ,Calzaghe/Calzaghe etc

Hats off to James Degale and Jim McDonnell for Saturday night - top win.

My only criticism would be that James seems to run out of idea's - he did so against Groves and then on the weekend against Dirrell.

Didn't see you address any of my points. From the looks of it you are a laughing stock around here. Will just leave it there.
