Ok, on review of the fight...(Wife had me roto-tilling til 10 PM and I was dog tired) I gave Dirrel rds 1, and he was DOMINATING the first 130 of rd 2 before being dropped.10-9 Dirrel You gotta give Degale the points for the kds, but other than nearly getting Dirrel outta there, Dirrel himself nearly had DeGale outta there just prior.10-8 Degale Dirrel should have stayed on the back foot and countered once he had DeGale hurt. Instead, he BLEW the fight by continuing to come forward.18-19 DeGale Rds 3 I gave DeGale since Dirrel was winning the first 230 of it clearly, but then drops his hands in the corner and gets teed off on. What's he thinking.10-9 DeGale. Had Dirrel continued off the backfoot, he AGAIN coulda won the rd. But ****ed it away throwing his defense to the dogs. 29-27 DeGale. rd 4....pretty much nothing whatsoever but posturing til 130, then DeGale lands a handful of shot, followed by Dirrel making a mini comeback. Dirrel finishes out the rd landing the jab and couple of decent shots. 10-9 Dirrel 38-37 Degale Rd 5 Pretty even rd again until 135, then Dirrel lands a huge L hand counter, and boxes smartly for a few, tripling up the jab, and thorwing a huge OH L that misses before a clinch at 115. DeGale throwing arm punches after the clinch before being tied up. Nothing at all on them. But Dirrel, obviously weary of a huge L hand, does nothing much other than a couple double jabs that hit gloves and the rd is fairly uneventful until DaGale lands a decent OH L with like 5 seconds left. Close rd. But the L hand at the end gives it to DeGale. 10-9 DeGale 48-46 DeGale Dirrel is essentially giving this fight away by not defending the wild L hands. rd 6......mighta been the best rd of the fight. Very even throughout with both men trading bombs. DeGale busts Dirrels nose, but Dirrels lands some flush CL hands right on the chin. Don't know how DeGale stays up from them. Much better rd defensively for Dirrel but at moments, he dropped his hands and he was lucky DeGale didnt drill him. 10-9 Dirrel close, but I think Dirrel landed the HARDER shots, and you gotta score defense, though I rarely do. 57-56 DeGale Rd 7....A few moments for DeGale, but Dirrel was the agressor thruout, and while some of his shoeshining werent getting comepletly thru, the combinations were flowning smoothly. Easiest rd of the fight to score. 10-9 Dirrel 66-66 EVEN Rd 8 237 of the rd, they exchange bombs, nice work by both before being tangled, but Dirrel gets the cleaner bigger shots in. Nice jab by Dirrel, followed immediately by GREAT inside work, up and down by DeGale. MONSTER OH L by Dirrel. His best punch since the 2nd, follwed direclty by good body work and GREAT inside DEFENSE. Boring next minute as the feints and jabs are almost all short, but Dirrel does land a decent shoeshine even if most of it was blocked. Nice R hook for Dirrel, but DeGale more off balance than hurt. Easy Dirrel rd. He's up. 76-75 Dirrel rd 9.....lotta posturing, flicking of the jab from both. DeGale with a nice inside combo, but is countered HUGE coming out @ 215, Nice jabs up and down from Dirrel DeGale looking GASSED. Nothing but arm punches and posturing from DeGale for the final 130. Easy, EASY rd for Dirrel. 86-84 Dirrel Huge UC by Dirrel @235...shakes DeGale to his core. Dirrel bearing down with a solid 1-2 as DeGale goes to the ropes and looks to ty up. Dirrel with another decent UC in the tie up. Break by the ref. DeGaLE comes forward with a few arm punches and uses his body to push Dirrel back. Dirrel holds ground and they separate. Nothing from either on the way out. Dirrel begins the action with a jab. Boring minute with posturing and arm punching but Dirrel explodes off a break driving a L hand as DeGale moved into the neutral corner. DeGale spoiling tying up. He's done. WAIT A MINUTE. He's throwing punches again. WIDE, but thowing, and with meaning. Too bad for him, DIRREL seems to be keen on dodging them, and not a shot lands. Excellent DEFENSE by Dirrel on the DeGale comeback. Dirrel drives him back into the corner looking for a KO. DeGale ties up mixing a decent CP in there. Ref breaks em. Nice defense towards the end by Dirrel, landing a hard CL at the bell. 10-9 Dirrel. Easy rd to score. 96-93 Dirrel Rd 11....Dirrel being aggressive and scoring first the first 130, Degale with a mini comeback at 110 Dirrel drives him back to the rope with a 1-2....they exchange center ring....Dirrel holds up and lands the cleaner shots. Dirrel the agressor throughout, and DeGale was almost all arm punches. 10-9 Dirrel, but just nicked it. 106-102 Dirrel Rd 12. Bumsrush by Dirrel to start. Nothing really landed. Dirrel lands a solid L hand, but DeGale running like old Dirrel, Lara for the first minute....DeGale comes forward, but Dirrel flciks out the double jab and DeGale stays outta range. DeGale wings an OH L and bullies Dirrel, Dirrels DEFENDS it perfectly. DeGale with nice inside work at 115.Mixing it up for 30 secodns, Dirrel with the better work. Dirrel trying to make a fight, but DeGale defending well. 10-9 Dirrel 116-111 Andre Dirrel
Dirrell was winning round 2 but still 2 knock downs gives the man that round. so thats a 10-7 round Dirrell 1,4,6,7,8,9,10,12 I think thats 113-113?? Not sure
You're clearly a Dirrell nut-hugger. The second round can not be scored any other way than 10-7 for DeGale. You even admit he almost had Dirrell stopped. So you took a point from DeGale and gifted it to Dirrell just because you like his bitсh аss. That's without mentioning that Dirrell went down a third time at the end of the round right after the bell. You're giving Dirrell points in a round in which DeGale mopped the floor with Dirrell.
I don't know who's trying hardest to rewrite history, MVC! or chitownfightfan 116-111 Andre Dirrell...Get the f*** outta here ¬_¬
It was 5-0 after round 3 and degale won 11th and 12th and 1 or 2 between 4 and 10. Dirrell was hitting gloves most of the night. Ud was the right decision For degale
I don't think there's a bigger Dirrel detractor on this site than me. Dirrelevant.....I mighta been the one who coined the phrase. I've always maintained that Tony Dirrel was the better overall fighter, but last night, Andre showed flashes of brilliance, and like I said, he deserved the win. Now....I know there are HUGE racial and nationalist divides on this site, so there are SO many with blinders on that they can't score objectively. Im just not one of those guys. I don't like Andre Dirrel, though I will admit, that he showed great poise and heart last night in hanging in there and winning that fight. As for the 10-8 2nd for DeGale rather than a 10-7...... Dirrel DOMINATED.....ABSOLUTELY DOMINATED the first 130 of the round. He busted DeGale up with L hand. How DeGale held on, IDK, but he showed a GREAT chin, and great heart himself, especially the way he came back with that shot that put Dirrel on spagetti legs. However, when one fighter wins more than 1/2 the rd, but gets dropped a couple times, you CAN score the rd 10-8 even with 2 KDs. This was NOT Provo vs Ruslan rd 1 where Ruslan dominated the entire rd plus scored the KDs. Dirrel had DeGale hurt badly and cut by a punch. Woulda been a 10-8 for Dirrel had he continued to dominate as he was before the KDs.
As for ppl saying I should log off.... Come on guys......some of yall know me. You know the fighters I like, and you know I can score a fight. Watch it again if you need to. My score is fair and my rbr objective. Dirrel had the better defense, landed the harder more effective punches and was the agressor more often than not. Yeah, some of his work was blocked, I know.....but when you throw a 12 punch combo, and 11 of em hit gloves, even the ones hitting gloves should be considered. Havent you blocked shots and still felt the thudding. Those punches, even fully blocked, take a toll. Im not a Dirrel fan. Much less a hugger. And Im certainly not an American nationalist fan. If theres a rematch, which we should DEMAND as fans, Dirrel stops DeGale in 5. :think
Chitown is generally pretty rational...but.... Despite looking good in the first part of round 2... in retrospect its clear all he was doing is getting timed. Its not like he was doing massive damage, its 10-7 Also not sure how anyone can give round 4 to Dirrell, he did not land anything really authoritative - each landed some ok power shots but DeGale kept smacking Dirrell with a really hard jab and controlling the pace and action. Oh, and round 1 was even - cant really complain if it is scored either way.
If you're going to have Dirrell the winner, he won by two points at most. Anymore becomes a joke score (just like the 117-109 was for DeGale). It was a very close fight.
1 Dirrell 2 DeGale (by 3 pts) 3 DeGale 4 DeGale (clean right hook vs 1-2 more jabs) 5 DeGale 6 DeGale 7 Dirrell 8 Dirrell 9 Dirrell 10 Dirrell 11 DeGale 12 DeGale 7-5 + 2 pts for KD. 115-111
