I think MAB would have beaten Floyd at 130. Maybe even stopped him. It comes down to him being very good and having the perfect style to beat him. Barrera was a physically stronger fighter. Remember Floyd wasn't a particularly strong 130 pounder. He could punch better there, but he wasn't very strong. Barrera liked to fight inside and Floyd doesn't like to be muscled. He was probably the best body puncher of the era. The left hook to the body would be there in the pocket and on the ropes all night long. That shoulder roll isn't gonna work against that left hook and uppercut to the body. Floyd can't run away. He won't be able to score enough points by running. He would have to fight and if he ran Marco would cut off the ring and bring the body punches.
barreras my fav fighter. if you think he beats floyd you are simply mistaken, junior jones's reach caused massive problems for him, floyd would have outboxed him in an exciting fight
i felt he was prime in the leadup to the hamed fight (jesus salud fights etc etc) were examples where the 2 styles of barrera met and mixed perfectly the younger vicious barrera coupled with is smarter more measured and experienced boxer puncher style
any stubborn, aggressive, skilled fighter with decent speed, power, and stamina is a nightmare for the fast and defensive floyd. prime barrera, morales, marquez, and pacquiao. the thing is, he will not fight them but evade, run, and just score points to beat them. he will not risk being the aggressor even if he has the size advantages and it has become successful with boxing judging.
Mayweather would beats Barrera by UD. Barrera will have his moments but will eventually end up confused, frustrated and battered. Many newbies here think that Mayweather in this Pacquiao and Alvarez fights(probably the only two fights these newbies saw) is exactly how Mayweather peformed at 130 and 135. Down at the lower weights Mayweather was freakishly active and had serious power.
You mean he'll fight to his opponents' weaknesses? Everyone should exploit their opponents' weaknesses.
