He didnt go down in the King fight that I recall, he just got tagged and didnt throw back during a King flurry.

It was a premature stoppage for sure, but King was winning the fight anyways, so even if Stiverne was just given a standing 8, he'd still have lost on the cards down 39-36 going into the 5th and not effectively countering King who pretty much buried his head into Stivernes chest every rd.

 

I wonder if Haymon doesn't try and make the Wlad fight first just so they can avoid traveing on the road to fight Poverkin. There is a risk/reward there

Good post, but Fury vs Wilder is as 50/50 as a fight gets.

If Wilder were smart, he'd have signed to fight Fury when Fury was the top contender than simply postponed to recover from his injury.

Like Vitali did with Adamek, he wasnt the mandatory, but he was the #1 and Vitali was able to fight voluntary after Adamek.
