All those "world title,s" are really bad for boxing!! isn,t it possible to reduce this to 12 real Champions? Boxing would benefit for sure!
There's been at least 2 titles since the 1920s Boxing isn't likely to go back to even the two-title era, let alone 1 title.
People think it would be so much better but it would probably make it worse in my opinion. The 4 belts has lead to opportunities for people form other countries than USA. And also take into account how often guys who are recognised as The champion in their division such as Mayweather/ Ward/ Rigo, etc I strongly believe without these belts creating opportunities guys like Golovkin/ Kovalev/ Brook will still be ignored on the domestic scene and we'd be getting rubbish like Broner v Ortiz for the lineal title.
I tend to agree. What I would like to see more of is unification bouts though. When the titles are distributed between only 2 men, it should generally be the case that they fight each other.
Klitschko, Huck, Kovalev, DeGale, GGG, Floyd, Garcia, Crawford, Uchiyama, Walters and some skinny little fellas.
I wonder how much money it would cost to buy the major orgs. Wish a billionaire would buy them and dissolve 2 of them. I wouldn't mind having two titlists per division.
Just having one belt per division would make boxing worse as the promoter of the champion would keep the belt in house by making his champion only fight other fighters in his stable. You would need a world governing body, like UFC has, to make it fair.
