Will Rigondeaux ever meet another great talent?

There are some very good fighters at 122 for him to fight at the moment...

Beating Frampton would certainly be more meaningful than dragging up and beating Gonzalez or Inoue at 122.

 

Well he and Roman are already coming in basically the same weight on fight night. Should be realistic in the future, Rigo is a very small super bantam.

 

Frampton or Quigg would be awesome. I don't know Monster's fight night weights but Roman has been around 125 lately on fight night. Rigo has been 124-128 on fight night for the last 2 years.

 

Fight night weights mean nothing in regards to the division they fight.

I don't see Rigondeaux fighting top 115 pounders or top 118 pounders, let alone the best 122 pounder. By the time he would rise that high, Rigondeaux will have risen to 126 or will no longer be relevant.

I would bet large sums of money on that fight never happening.

Where are all these fighters jumping up 2 or 3 divisions at a time? There aren't any.

 

Well monster jumped 2 divisions in his last fight and took the title.

I would be stunned if Monster and Chocolatito both haven't had a fight at bantam in the next 18 months.

 

Roman only has 1 more fight to make at Fly and that's the Estrada rematch. Assuming Roman wins - once that fight happens, whether it's his next fight or not, I seriously doubt he ever fights at 112 ever again. A 13 lb drain for a 112 lb division is not what you want to be doing to your body at 27 years old. Once Roman has had the Estrada rematch he'll win a title at 115 and fight Monster if Monster is still fighting at 115. If Monster has moved up again by then Roman will move up and win a title at 118 and then fight Monster there instead.

Whether or not a Rigo fight can be made will depend on whether or no Rigo stays at 122. I say he can for a while if he is so inclined because he's a freaking tiny Super Bantam.

 

Naoya said he take a lot out of body to make 108 and that 115 is weight he feel natural at. He say he want to beat Yoko Gushiken record for 13 defense at 115.

Roman said 2 more defense then he maybe me move to 115.

Inoue and Yamanaka were on TV show and said they were not likely to fight soon due to weight difference.

 

:thumbsup Thanks for the info. I guess we'll see how it plays out. I think Roman will be moving up many more weight classes in the coming years. I'm not as familiar with Monster's weight so I fully defer to you on that. He is very young so I fully expect him to move up a few more weight classes in the future.

 

Naoya's dad, Shingo, think he top out at 126 many year down line. But no rush there.

 

Rigo's got promotional issues last I heard and not planning to be back in the ring until his contract expires with his current manager. Gary Shaw I think it is but don't quote me.

Thing is, if Inoue was to move up and knock Yamanaka out before his 10th fight- which would be up there with the greatest accomplishments in boxing history....he still would barely get a mention on this board and there will still be more talk about Pacquiao's shoulder injury :-(
