a boxer i know is turning pro and is looking to relocate to england to get the best sparring and training possible. his job is with a company that will allow him to move to one of there other offices and he has the choice of sheffield or manchester and possibly london if he is lucky. once he requests the move he cant request another one in at least 6 months so i dont want to steer him the wrong way so i said i would ask on here to get opinions on the areas and trainers how do people on here rate the coaches at each area and could you tell me more about what and who they train? the boxer will be turning over at welter or light middle and is a box fighter who has had a good amateur career including international experience. he doesnt want to be named until he formally turns over!! sheffield i thought only really dominic ingle, has good reputation and is doing well with kell brook in manchester there is joe gallacher who is high profile and would have loads of sparring oliver harrison who trains martin murray and has trained amir khan in the past lee beard is an up and coming coach that has worked with ricky hatton in the past as well as working with some good prospects there was also bob shannon but recent stories in papers have put him off that idea! he also wouldnt want to train with ricky hatton who he loved as a boxer but doesnt think he would be able to train with him london has the likes of jimmy tibbs, tony sims etc but he will be lucky if he would manage to afford the living costs in london so i think that would rule out going there. i have said that either dom ingle or joe gallacher but who would you recommend to him any insight to there gyms etc would be great and if ive missed any good coaches out i would also be keen to hear about them.
Ingle gym speaks for itself with success. might not be as easy as you think to just turn up though pal
NW has a lot of good coaches and gyms. Help each other out with sparring and easy to travel between them. Agree with the point above, the ones mentioned plus a few more are well known for a reason. They are busy. Suggest he visits the gyms and meets the trainers before making a decision/asks to be trained
I might pop over to the Mayweather gym and see if myself and Floyd would be compatable. Not sure if i could put up with him day in and day out but im willing to give him a try.
