Muhammad Ali manhandled Sonny Liston, Cleveland Williams, George Foreman, and Earnie Shavers. I don't see no other boxer in history dominating Ali in the clinches.

No. He might've been stronger in terms of stamina and endurance, but not in terms of brute force. Foreman was stronger than him, but Ali beat him with finesse. Liston was probably stronger too, but he got caught by surprise by Ali who was more motivated than him at that point. Personally I think Shavers beat him.

I think the reason Ken Norton got the best of Ali was because he was physically stronger.

But in terms of stamina, chin, and endurance, yes, Ali might have been the best.

I know what you're saying but that also comes down to technique and knowing what to do in the clinches. No doubt Ali was very strong but he didn't even really clinch with Liston while Foreman didn't use a clinch to work otherwise he might've got the best of him because he actually tried. He tied up Frazier very effectively by using his height advantage to pull on Frazier's head then lean on him. Kind of like a certain someone today.

, gee would that certain someone be a man from the Ukraine who's about 6-5 or 6-6 that was born in 1976:huh:think

As far as Ali goes hard to disagree with the mans mettle, amazing considering all he has been thru that he is still alive, he was an amazing human being..

What's even more tragic is that he lost 3 prime years because he refused to go to Nam, that right there was 10 or 12 fights..

Norton did so well because he knew how to exploit Alis weaknesses Eddie futch had explained to norton the many pitfalls in his style and Morton was able to use that I haven't time I explain what he did but I will later I'm at work on break

Power does not equate to being physically strong. Wrong, Ali showed he was physically stronger than Liston and Foreman. Wrong, Shavers lost fair and square. Wrong, he was able to give Ali good fights because his style suited Ali's style. When Ali fought Ken Norton he wasn't at his physical best. I'm taking about when Ali was at the height of his powers.

    Yeah, he was very strong.
When talking about himself he played down his physical strength and emphasised speed and science.

I didn't either...he appeared to navigate them well because of his speed, agility and leverage....in terms of brute strength, Foreman is tops, and Norton was also stronger than Ali...and you can name more who, in terms of sheer strength were greater, like Chuvalo and Bonavena too.

Ali even mentioned that he was stronger than George in the clinches, post fight, so I think the OP has a point.

This is very true. Right after the bout Ali intimated he was stronger in the clinches. Ali was a very strong hwt. The quickest and one of the strongest hwts ever.
