there's enough of Burley to grasp his style and ability. not just Greb, but ALL fighters from the turn of the century into the 20s and beyond. even from the 30s & 40s we still are denied hundreds of great fighters captured on film, and loads of remained film is s h i t in it's quality, not allowing the fights to been seen in proper movement, speed, clarity and reality. But thank God, there is some stock out there, that is good enough to show things right enough for comparison.
Ray Robinson's (the greatest fighter to ever step thru the ropes) welterweight career in the 40's comes immediately to mind.
There is a boxing scene in a Hollywood Technicolor film of Maxie. I saw it years ago and don't remember the title, but it does give some idea of Maxie's style and ability to move. I think it was filmed about 1940.
Just as much as Greb, this one breaks my heart...as I'd just love to see Slapsie Maxie weave his webs of wiiyness vs his pedestrian opponents.
