So let's say Khan doesn't get Mayweather in September who will he fight Next? Brook and thurman won't happen so who will Khan Pick?
Why not Chris Algieri rematch? First one was pointless so he may as well fight him again. We can talk about a trilogy if he wins again.
He'll spend the next 3 months chasing Mayweather and not get the fight and fight someone who doesn't punch hard while ducking any serious threat like Brook. Maybe he'll pick Guerrero or maybe the smaller Broner, neither hit hard at welter.
If Khan wants to fight Floyd then he really needs to do something that will set him apart from the pack and will rule out another in the pack from fighting Floyd. Bradley, Brook, Thurman seem the obvious choices. He really slipped up with Aligiei. He should have fought one of the above instead of Algieri. If he had won that, and that is a big if, and still couldn't get the Floyd fight then he could have fought another one of the above mentioned three later this year. Those two victories along with people saying Khan has the speed and style to beat Floyd would have put Khan in a great position to legitimately challenge Floyd. I can't see Khan taking on one of the above though. Well, maybe Bradley, who I think is the best in the WW division outside of Mayweather and Pacquiao, but his lack of punching power may be seen as a big plus point by Khan and his people. A more realistic matchup is JMM. He is still a name, but his age and being slower than Khan would make it a more stylistic friendly matchup in some respects for Khan. He has really messed up of late, Khan, trying desperately to get the Mayweather fight. Instead of earning it by taking risks, he has instead looked for the safer route and tried to talk his way into a Floyd fight. The problem with this is that there are other people around who have either done more than Khan recently or offer Mayweather something more than Khan can offer (Cotto/Canelo offer more money and Cotto, if he gets past Geale, offers Mayweather the chance to win a belt in a new division). The other problem with Khan's approach is that he lacks the spite and nastiness in his personality to talk his way into a fight like, for example, David Haye did with Wlad.
Its gotta be Brook. Brook wants it, He has a belt and Khans talking Mayweather so surely in his mind he must fancy beating Brook. Would be a very big fight, over in the UK anyway. Although we all know already that fight wont happen. Khans screwed in this division though as far as im concerned. Doesnt have the power or chin to beat the elite at 147. He is NEVER guna beat Mayweather, Thurman or Brook. Fast combinations, yeah, but he never discouraged Algieri from coming forward and got his knees stiffened twice. If he cant discourage those other 3 he is fooked.
