    * 23 title defenses
    * 18 consecutive defenses
    * 2nd longest reign in the HW history
    * Undisputed

    Me too.....but until I actually started paying attention to boxing on a GLOBAL scale, I refused to say that there was ANY other HW in the world who would beat a prime Holmes.

    That said, around 95,96 when I first started to notice Lennox Lewis, I hated him, but swallowed my pride and said, THIS IS THE GOAT Im watching right now.

    He would have SMOKED Holmes. :thumbsup

    In his prime Holmes rarely fought down to his competition, rarely showed a detrimental weakness, and rarely had a particularly troublesome affair.

    The same cannot be said of Lennox Lewis.

    So that makes Holmes superior to Lewis prime for prime?

    I'm a huge LL fan but in all honesty, Ray Mercer gave him ALL he could handle. He was LOSING the Bruno fight before he uncorked that monster left hook, ole man Evander was fighting him on even terms in the rematch and we all remember what happened in the first McCall fight.

    Prime Holmes would have been a nightmare for Lennox...

    Add Povetkin, Leapai, Pulev, and Jennings to the ledger since this thread was made. Fury's on deck.

    It was close before, but Wlad's pulled ahead over the last couple of years.

    Leapai and Fury add no value. Worthless guys that are lucky to be ranked in a weak era.

    Jennings, Pulev and Povetkin are excellent wins.

    Leapai I agree 100%.... But Fury's at least worth mentioning.

    Holmes without doubt.

    Vlad has zero ATGs on his resume while Holmes, win or lose, has been in the ring with several.

    All of Vlad's opposition are Tim Withespoon level opponents and that includes Povetkin.
