Why do you think Rousey's fans are just clinging to hope? Cyborg has a very real chance of winning, but it is limited. Cyborg will most likely have to render Rousey nearly/completely unconscious from a standing position. Their height and reach are virtually equal. Rousey has the decided advantage in the clinch, and on the ground. If Ronda can keep closing the distance, she will get Cyborg to the ground and finish her. If Cyborg drops Ronda, without having her in a lot of trouble, Ronda will probably armbar her in the struggle. Rousey by armbar is the smart pick. At least it has been 9 of 11 times. It was Rousey by tko the other two, in case you were wondering.
You gotta be kidding. Cyborg is 58. Ronda is listed generously 56. Both Cat and Miesha are 56 yet both stood taller than Ronda. Cyborg also has a big 3 inch edge in reach. Cyborg is almost 170 on fight night. Size is too much in Cyborgs favor thus Zuffas attempt to drain Cyborg to a unrealistically low weight. Stylewise we all get it. Rondas edge will be the ground and Cyborgs edge will be standing. All fights start standing. Rondas chin is too easy a target as it was for McMann and Tate. Cyborgs striking is light years better than theirs. Id rather bet on Cyborg landing strikes that hurt Ronda at range while standing than bet on little Ronda taking Cyborg down or Ronda doing anything in the clinch with someone whos physically stronger and going to weigh much more than her.
have you not seen RR throw fully grown men around like rag dolls in training , i give cyborg 30 seconds maximum on her feet and thats being kind , soon as she hits the floor its just a matter of time before tap tap tap !! , the only chance cyborg has is to knock her clean out which is highly unlikely . rousey is on a completely different level to any of them and will probably go unbeaten her whole career .
I have. But I've also seen Cyborg do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhctptLxUZ8 There's a old saying that goes like this: A good big man beats a good little man. In Cyborg, Ronda would be going up against size and striking power that far surpasses anything she's felt. Ronda isnt just going to be able to shake off being nailed cleanly, rocked and pressured by someone Cyborg's size and strength. This isnt a video game. BTW If Cyborg is so vulnerable on the ground she wouldnt have various grappling or jiu jitsu titles on her combat sports resume. What credential does Ronda have to speak for her stand up ability? Cyborg is the bigger, more complete fighter TBH. The only Ronda cheerleader who thinks realistically is Zuffa. They know Ronda would be too small for Cyborg at 145 . Zuffa is going to drain the living shiett outta Cyborg in hope that Cyborg wil be too weak from the cut to threaten their golden girl.
if cyborg wants to earn any decent money in her career she has to get down to 135 , this is not rousey's problem its cyborgs , RR is the champion , she does not need to chase anyone , maybe if cyborg had not filled her body with PEDs the weight drop would not be an issue , but as said , if she wants to earn lifetime changing money in one fight then its up to her to make 135 . if not then its her problem and she can carry on with her $5k paydays and never have a chance of a career defining fight .
Cyborg has no interest in Rondas belt. Cyborg is going to attempt the cut for one reason: THE FANS. Its not about money, staying in the UFC, supposed personal beef, etc. Cyborg is asked about Ronda nonstop and this cut to 135 is the only foreseeable way to please fans. Zuffa unfortunately has monopolized big league MMA and their ideology for women is on par with the WWEs divas. Before Rousey was known they were interested in Gina Carano which means they woulda had 145 ready to accommodate Gina. Cyborgs struggles on the scale are well known. Zuffa is totally banking on Cyborg being too weak from weightloss to threaten Ronda. Its common knowledge that if Cyborg wins shes gonna vacate and go to an organization that has her weightclass.
Do you really believe this? This is the biggest money fight for her in this sport. Cyborg wanted it at a higher weight. She isn't making the the cut for her fans. She is making the cut so she can make money. I'm not going to argue against the UFC having a monopoly on the sport. The UFC currently has a monopoly. Speaking of this monopoly...when has the UFC ever let anyone fight for a title with the ability to walk away and fight elsewhere? Never. The UFC signs a fighter to a certain # of fights, and only allows to let the signed fighter go once those fights have taken place. That, or when the UFC has cut the fighter for whatever reason is valid in the contract. The UFC is not protecting Rousey. The UFC will protect the title. That title will not leave without a fight, after a fight, after a fight...
hahaha , are you crazy , everything is about money , she does not give a **** about the fans . she needs the RR fight badly so she can earn life changing money , she has to make 135 its as simple as that . ok all these fighters and boxers love fan support on the night of a fight but after that they dont give a hoot . the fans are not going to pay her mortgage and put food on her table . EVERY FIGHT IS ABOUT MONEY , ESPECIALLY THIS ONE !! FANS atsch
Its questionable how solid Cyborgs UFC deal really is because shes required to fight 135 in Invicta first instead of the UFC. So this is all must be a wait and see what happens deal. UFC would be ill advised signing Cybvorg to 135 long term considering her history. Shes infamous for barely making 145. Its so obvious UFC is completely sold on Cyborg getting too weak from the weightloss to win their title. If she does make 135 safely (meaning she's still the same physical force she was at 145) and beats Ronda it'll be hard to see her continually getting down to 135 for fights beyond Rousey. IMO thats the reason why Cyborg has said in the past she has no interest in Rondas belt.
Newsflash: Fans = MONEY If fans get matchups they want to see, the fans will show up in mass to pay the big bucks to watch then everyone associated with the event eats well off the big bucks collected from the live gate. Get it? Cyborg made $90,000 at Invicta 11 which is much more than your inaccurate she gets $5K per fight nonsense and also more than Cat and Miesha make upfront for any fight that doesnt involve Ronda. Cyborg will live fine on that Invicta salary. Cyborg tried to do business with the UFC over 2 years ago but there was no incentive for her to cut when another place was offering her a job at 145. Ronda wasnt a PROVEN attraction. Now Ronda is the biggest MMA star. Cyborg is asked about Ronda by fans everywhere (interviews, hangouts, internet/social media). So yes the overwhelming demand from THE FANS is the reason Cyborg is making this happen..
Thinking of how Cyborg looks it should be the other way around. Ronda Rousey should be scared of her.
This is nothing but PR spin coming from the Rowdy one. To me, Rowdy Ronda wins this fight by submission no matter what. However... I simply don't understand why Ronda so adamantly refuses to fight Cyborg unless Cyborg is drained down to '35. If you suspect a fighter of cheating via PED abuse, then draining that fighter by 10lbs isn't going to suddenly make them show up clean. I'm starting to think that Rousey/Dana White just don't want to risk fighting Cyborg Santos unless she's heavily weight-drained. Plus, knowing that Cyborg is very, very unlikely to make the 135lb limit is a good deterrent. When Rousey was in StrikeForce, she campaigned at 145 there for a while, and was next in line to face Cyborg. Then, Rousey moved down to 135 almost immediately after that. Cyborg says she doesn't care about the 135 belt at all, so there really isn't much of an excuse. I can't see Ronda losing a fight against Cyborg at 145 (or at least a 140 catchweight). Ronda would win by 1st round submission and elevate herself even further as an MMA superstar in my honest opinion. Somebody just doesn't want to take the risk unless they're absolutely sure it won't blow up in their face.
I strongly agree with the bolded part. I'm just not sure that Cyborg would be able to avoid getting taken down in an eventual clinch.
