Cotto should be licking his chops to fight Alvarez, what has Canelo shown other than he can pummel stationary targets like Angulo and Kirkland. Cotto can box if he needs to, I see no point in waiting to fight Canelo, Cotto should sign it immediately, easy fight just based on experience.

Canelo is 24 years old and continues to improve on his game. I had Canelo squeaking out a win vs Lara, which is something cotto would not be able to do.
You will be very shocked once this fight happens if you are writing off Canelo that easily.

    Cotto is nothing like Mayweather.

I suspect Canelo will defeat Cotto.

  4. Canelo has fought the same way since the Mayweather bout. He has learned nothing new and done nothing new in the ring according to his last 3 fights. He still has stamina issues for a 24 year old and if a fighter moves left and right he can't hit them.

Angulo almost had Lara knocked out cold. The way Lara likes to spin out to his right with his hands down would get him clipped with a Cotto left hook and it would be good night Irene. Lara is 1-2 rinse and repeat fighter. He has a straight left hand and that is it. Cotto is the much better schooled fighter.

Canelo will not be severely weight-drained against Cotto, like he was against Floyd. It will be an even fight.

Freddie roach would have a great aggressive game plan for Lara's ass

Floyd beats almost everyone very easily, so he shouldn't be used in triangle theories.

I'd have to favor alvarez in a potential match between him and Cotto. It should be a very entertaining fight though.

People forget too that Mayweather didn't have an easy night against Canelo...it was a good and comfortable win, but not easy by any means. Canelo did a lot better than most have done. Canelo should beat Cotto easily.

You mean Geale wasn't A level? :nut

Funny how fans take impressive knockouts over hasbeens and never were's and equate it to Cotto being transformed under the tutelage of one Fredrick Roach.

At this point, I pick the young hungry Canelo to beat Cotto.

    Exactly!
Mayweather was in attack mode vs Cotto when he rarely does that, and he pretty much was dominating Cotto being aggressive.

Against Canelo, Mayweather strictly boxed and was on the defensive.

Canelo was much more competitive in the second half vs Mayweather than people like to give him credit for.
