Markham has been announced as fighting for the wbo euro ( I know that the belt isn't worth much in terms of importance etc)

I'd imagine will be against a euro import, but I'd quite like to see David Brophy be stepped up and put in there,

Or maybe even smyle again - stick the English back up again.

Would make sense for Markham to do so... would give him a higher ranking and it's inevitable that him and Buglioni will get it on again in the near future.

Would be great if Brophy could get in on the act as well.

Markham has been confirmed as fighting for it, as you say do no harm to his ranking if he picks it up..
And yeah be a good measuring stick for where brophy is at...

The other obvious candidate is Smyle and Markham to go at it in maybe an eliminator for the British too. Or the commonwealth.

All these lads need to get in good position for when Smith - Fielding fight, because I doubt neither of them will stick on domestic (whoever wins / loses) so I'd see that belt being vacant again sooner rather than later.

Brophy will bang him out. Too much power.

I don't see a reason why it can't be done, at all... Brophy surely can be fight ready for July as he's already fit.. lee is looking for someone. And as is already stated MGM and FW have a working relationship..

More I think about it the more I think I really want to see it.
As for whoever said Brophy has too much power, what is that based on? Not a dig at him - a genuine question.

If its july theres not a chance Brophs will be ready , he only fought on friday and is now in spain for 2 weeks which takes you into July and usually trains an 8 week camp for a fight , earliest youl see Brophy fighting is september id think

It's not based on his record anyway, not allowed to say that though it's seems to offend Nelson.

Judging from his posts in another thread I imagine he's being somewhat ironic.

hardly worth pushing if brophy is in spain for 2 weeks on holiday! there is no way he could take the biggest fight of his career without a proper training camp. even if he wasnt away it would still be a struggle imo but im sure billy can give more insight on this

He'd have a good 5 weeks before the 25th July, which is the pencilled in date...

That's plenty of time, at this level. As has already been said, he went through the motions with McKenna the other week - so will be "fit" maybe need sharpening of the tools after a few days on holiday.

This talk of not being out until September is nonsense.. He don't need that long at all... Look at Cal smith & rocky fielding - both fighting late June & late sept, but they are already in the position that these guys are aiming to be, fighting for real titles... Until then it's a case of "when the door knocks you answer it with a smile"

don't become a coach if you think 5 weeks is plenty of time for a 12 rounder mate:patsch
