Looking at the first two rounds, with the weight issue taken into account, I feel Paul Smith is so far shaming himself. He's blatantly took this fight for one reason - money, he's not bothered to train properly at all. He's barely threw anything, I'm going to go as far as saying it reminds me of a fighter "throwing" a fight. In that he doesn't care at all.

If it's all some ploy to take it to the later rounds & slow Ward, then il eat my hat & owe the guy a sincere apology... As things stand though.... Shocking.

I can't be bothered to stay up and watch this nonsense. I admire Ward but I will only watch his fights on repeat from now on. It is far to hard to stay awake for his fights.

What else has he took it for? Where is his ambition? Are you seriously trying to say he looks like he has any intention of attempting to turn this around?

Just the same as when we see the likes of Campbell, Callum Smith & the rest of the major prospects in there with an out of shape , un ambitious journeyman was that.

And to say Smith gave it all the trout about how he has a "punchers chance, not just here to make up the numbers" total rubbish ..!

The right strategy? Turn up way over weight, blatantly out of shape. Then throughout the whole fight throw barely anything.

I know there isn't a lot he can do to get anywhere near Ward ability wise, but was there any show of ambition at all? Or just slowly try and grind through until the fight is finished? As I say - journeyman like. After he said so loud that's not what he'd be doing.

Terrible tactics by Smith and his team, should have turned up in shape, made weight and took fight to Ward as much as possible, would properly have meant towel getting thrown in earlier but would have gave him a slight chance.

Being a Brit, it was embarrassing to watch.

No-one expected him to win... just show up in shape and let his hands go. He did neither. Still hopefully he's paid his mortgage off and can retire now.

Never seen the fight but I always had Smith down as a proud man who always turned up in shape and ready to fight.
Why could he not turn up with the same ambition and in the same shape as the 2 Abraham fights and had a go?
Fair enough ward isn't Abraham and his chances still would have slim but at least his reputation would as a proud fighter would have been intact.
Now people will remember him as the bloated journeyman who showed up against Ward just for the money.

A fighter I was very critical of on a couple of threads about being on weight Rocky Fielding in the Adamu fight Paul Smith rightly slaughtered on the night as a pundit on SKY.

He will no doubt now call it a day but anytime in the future he questions a fighters preparation on SKY last night will rightly be flagged up.No excuses the extra weight slowed him down even more and the 'plan' of standing there high guard a sitting target throwing nothing back, baffling.
