His failed attempts to be the villain are quite hilarious and tragic.

He makes floyd look good in every way. Floyd must love this guy.

    :good

AB is just an over hype fighter that thinks he's better than he really is. The problem with him is that he is not as effective at 147 as he was in the smaller weight classes. He needs to go back down to 140 and try to reestablish himself. The kid got a lot of talent but he just wasting it by not taking his craft serious. He needs to stop trying to act like Mayweather and be himself since he is not Mayweather. You think Mayweather would have lost to Porter !! He needs start taking his craft seriously and quit all this nonsense before it's to late !!!!

It always appeared to me like Broner is a guy who's too big for 140 and simply gets exposed whenever his size advantage is neutralized.

Like others have said, he needs to grow up, stop fighting like Floyd and move down in weight.

Upper body-wise he looks like an inferior Floyd. Lower body-wise he is nothing like Floyd. Floyd has quick feet and great footwork from the obvious spinning of opponents to the more subtle slight movement back to control distance. Broner has none of this. The shoulder roll is a lot less effective when you have no defensive footwork and therefore it becomes your only mode of defence. As great as Floyd is and as synonymous as the shoulder roll is with him, it is only one of a variety of defensive techniques employed by Floyd.

If Broner refuses to work on his footwork and continues to stay flat footed then he should employ defensive techniques more akin to James Toney than Floyd.

He also needs to use his jab more and increase his work rate dramatically. At lighter weights where his power was more impressive and he wouldn't get bullied as much he could get away with a lower work rate, but, at WW were it looks like most of his fights will go the distance he needs to start thinking about picking rounds up. WW's won't be as respectful of his power than the lighter weight guys and will, as Porter and Maidana shown, walk through him.

His slow, flat feet, lack of KO power at WW, low work rate and lack of a jab to disrupt his opponents and set up his own shots will mean that any tough, strong bully type fighters like Maidana and Porter will out hustle him and any quick fleet footed fighters like Mayweather, Thurman and even Khan would box rings around him.

All of these improvements will help, but, they might not take Broner to the heights that he wants to go as his two main flaws are ring IQ and fighting heart.

Broner has never really shown that he can adapt in the ring, not at the top level. Also, in his two defeats he was more worried about shaking his head after getting tagged to show he wasn't hurt than going for broke and trying to turn the tables. After knocking Porter down in the 12th he surely must have known that he needed the KO, but instead of going in to finish of Porter he was still overly cautious.

All the technical improvements in the world won't count for much if Broner doesn't learn how to adapt and how to take risks. If he can't do this then his boxing, just like his personality, will continue to be style over substance.
