That is kinda my point. Khan has done alot of talking about how great he is without actually proving anything against a threat. I do not believe he is ready for Romanov who is very capable of winning world honours. If Khan manages to put on a good display then he may actually be ready to make the step up into title contention for real and not just paper rankings.

I think that Warren thinks that Romanov is pretty damm good and experienced and better than Gomez. Gomez is a step up from Kristjansen but still no Romanov. The fact that this fight is happening tells us that Khan and Warren are still shitting themselves over facing a proper lightweight puncher like Thaxton whether he is limited or not.

Not sure about Thaxton...although..Gomez is a bit out of the blue...

But if they had gone for Thaxton, everyone would have known they were ducking Romanov...

Gomez might be a step up from Kristjansen and St Clair, but unless he puts up at least as good a fight against Khan as Limond did, it's just another fght that proves nothing, especially if Khan does an Earl on him.

Yep. Warren still seems very unsure over Khan as a serious fighter. Warren must also seriously rate Romanov as being better than Khan other wise that fight would be made. I think Warren and Khan are still unsure about whether Khan could handle Thaxton, even the plodding Thaxton that has fought recently. Gomez is probably the best next option and maybe the next step down from these guys and several steps down from Casa and Nate obviously. Gomez is however a step up from Kristjansen and Gairy so the fight a a step in the right direction if not the fight we wanted to see.

I really hope Gomez has enough left and it does not turn into an Earl affair. That would be a disaster for all involved. Hopefully Gomez will be able to give it a good shot and cause Khan problems (and win :yep ), Khan will probably stop him in the sixth after coming through the odd rough patch. This fight is a learning that that should have happened a while ago. Khan is not ready for serious contenders. This may be the start of Khan actually facing guys with the potential to cause Khan damage. Although if Gomez does manage to land and wobble Khan then Khan will probably be facing soft touches for a few more years.

This would have been a good fight 5 years ago but I really don't think Gomez has much left, however, he is a gritty ******* & will be up for this one so who knows? It might turn out okay.

is this gomez's first one since johanneson (sorry can't be arsed to boxrec it)?

if gomez can really get in khans face and not allow him to fight at range then he has a chance...otherwise khan by premature rsf.

Lot's of fights I would have preferred to have seen. You are right Khan vs Kid Diamond would have been cool but I think we should be grateful for what we have been given.

Gomez has fought since Johanneson fight - 6 rounder which he won on points against Baz Carey.

Read a couple of BBN articles about that bout - apparently Gomez was flat, going through motions. Had success to the body when working on the inside but punches lacked any great power. At no point did he take charge of fight completely. Carey said to look the man with the greater power.

sorry jeff I have alot of respect for your views on here but your thinking with your heart not your head.

Saying gomez is a tougher text than St.Clair (a former world champion) is ridiclious.

Gomez may be albe to bang but hes could never take a punch well, his best bet isw trading with Khan, which if he did, he would get knocked out.

Yes St Clair really came to fight.... come on Rob have a think about it..... a 12 round spar with St Clair or a 6 round war with Gomez? Which is going to get your heart racing more?
