We know how good was prime Mike's defense, but is it enough vs young Foreman with his great uppercuts from both hands?

IMO, Foreman has the best and the strongest uppercut of all HWs, and he hurt, dropped and stopped the most opponents with it.

What are your thoughts about this fight (Foreman from Frazier 1 and Norton fights vs Mike from Tucker-Holmes-Spinks fights)?

There is no history. Both fighters go at it. George is just too strong.

Of the eras you mentioned Tyson wins. Too mobile, great defense and speed with superlative power.

Foreman was , even in his prime, painfully slow, has absolute disregard for defense and swung wiiiiide.

Tyson would beat him to the punch every single time, speed kills.

In order to trouble Tyson you need size which Foreman has, ring smarts which young Foreman does not have, mobility, which Foreman does not have, clinching which Foreman does not do, a great jab which Foreman has and keep him out side which Foreman does not do, he invites you in for his slow clubbing uppercuts.

You cannot beat a prime Tyson in a toe to toe fire fight, he is wayyyy to fast, too elusive and hits wayyyy to hard with either hand and if a shot comes thru he has the chin to absorb it.

Ali hit Foreman witrh lead rights AT WILL, which is a insult to ANY pro fighter...even buckled Foreman a few times with it.....Tyson would land similar shots and we all can agree on that there is a lot more mus**** behind Tyson's hits.

Tyson is very difficult to hit clean, Tucker, Bruno and Bonecrusher got maybe a combined five hits in while Tyson was in total control............Larry Merchant always marveled about Tyson defensive capabilities.

50/50 fight but the upper cut would not be decisive, Foreman 's jab to set things up would be far more critical.

I just dont think young Foreman would have the smarts or discipline to fight a controlled match and would go gung ho and stopped in the process.

Prime Tyson was faster and had a better defense than 1973 Frazier. I stlll think Foreman would be able to catch him coming in. I really think such a matchup could go either way.

If they had fought in Foreman's second career, I think Tyson would have won.

Foreman had an amateurish wild looking right hand but his footwork was always fairly even and correct for his jabs and power shots. It may have looked wild but his hands would get back into position very quickly. But I'd think it'd be a hellava 12 round fight. Because in his prime, Mike knew how to box.

I never understood why so many people pick Foreman over Tyson, prime Tyson would be too fast for "The Mummy" George Foreman.

cause he's stronger, has a ramrod jab,and most important great hooks and uppercuts inside and at mid range....smaller guys have problems with big guys who are strong and good at inside.

floyd patterson was faster than liston and got smashed twice in one round...

This fight will go the distance. Tyson wins on work rate but there is even a chance he can get the knock downs as well

Tysons defense was a side to side unlike Frazier who bobbed up and down so hopefully no comparisons between the 2 will be made. The fight is a pick em, just depends who hurts who first. Prime Foremans defense was very weak and I'd think it would end up like the Lyle fight where both end up going down. Every time Prime Tyson got hurt he started throwing Bombs immediately, could see him catching a wide open mid punch Foreman and dropping him.

Would have been a hell of a fight

Of all the fights not likely to go the distance, this is the most obvious one.

But other than that, it's a pretty hard fight to call, if I had to bet on an outcome I would pick Foreman.

Tyson's style was to come right at you, which is the perfect style for Foreman. And when you see what looks like a tap from the big guy, drop Moore you have to give Foreman a huge edge in power and strength.

You cannot compare Moorer's chin to Tyson's no 1. No 2, Tyson moved side to side and up and down with his head and upper body, he was more versatile in this regard that a Frazier.

Foreman never faced someone with the speed, power, work rate, combination punching to the body and head, elusiveness of Tyson.

It would be delusional to say this is an easy fight for Foreman. Foreman was no god inspite of his intimidating reputation, if Ron Lyle can give Foreman a heck of a fight, Tyson definately will.
