The real question will be if being out of the worlds affects cuba's fighters mentality.

I don't think it will, but its a possibility.

Sidenote - Yanks, Is Danny Jacobs going to the games? I haven't been tracking the ams this year as much, but if he is, he is in with a shout at a gold?

I'll be rooting for Demetrius Andrade to make big waves. But admittidly, thats a home town bias.

    Boxing

After their best ever Olympic qualification campaign, Britain will have eight boxers in Beijing.

    Frankie Gavin

New lightweight world champion Frankie Gavin (right), from Birmingham, will aim to go one better than his former sparring partner Amir Khan, who won silver as Britain's only boxing representative in Athens in 2004.

Light-welterweight Bradley Saunders, bantamweight Joe Murray and light-heavyweight Tony Jeffries also qualified places for Beijing at the World Amateur Championships in Chicago.

Three more fighters - welterweight Billy Joe Saunders, flyweight Khalid Yafai and middleweight James Degale - earned their places during February's qualifying tournament in Italy, and super-heavyweight David Price made it through the final qualifying tournament in Athens.

If Charlie Z did somehow find a way to get into the olympics, we can just get Hartley in there to counteract him.

Danny Jacobs is pro now. 6-0 with 6 KOs.. He fought on the De La Hoya Undercard

Rau'shee Warren and Demetrius Andrade should become solid pros.

Russian fighter Matvey Korobov is an absolute animal, should he turn pro after the Olympics he'll be 25 but with his exprience it shouldnt take him long to climb the ladder.

If John and Julius Jackson fight anything like their father they'll be top professionals. Both only 19 as well

There are a few Cubans that are favored to get gold (Torriente for example), but most likely they won't turn pro, so that doesn't quite fit in your description/question.

the promoters seem to be putting alot of emphasis upon danny jacobs aswell as being on the undercard of the delahoya fight he was on the pbf hatton undercard aswell.im sure he'll be a title holder in the future.

i think frankie gavin could make big waves on the p4p scene as well as john joe nevin from ireland is a big prospect, only 18 and very exciting.

for ireland to have 5 boxers in the olympics this year is some feat considering our sole contender 4 years ago was andy lee.
