He would take a lot of rebuilding to resurrect Broner's career. It's not just a matter of him knuckling down and training harder, he has bigger problems than just being out of shape and not throwing enough. His mock shoulder roll is deeply flawed. One draw back of the shoulder roll is that it limits your offensive opportunities and Broner relies on it too much, Mayweather isn't just the shoulder roll, his defence is multi-dimensional unlike Broner's. This is one reason why Broner doesn't throw enough it's not just down to a lack of conditioning. Broner is far too staionary. His stance is far too wide with too much weight on the back foot. This means to move back he has to lift the front foot first before he can move the rear foot unlike someone with a narrower stance. Wlad used to do the same which is why he used to be a sitting duck. Fact is for Broner to improve he needs to go back to the beginning and rebuild like Khan has done because his flaws are huge and deeply ingrained and he will need to step down a level to relearn and develop because at the level he has been fighting at he will just get exposed again.
You are correct, but Broner does not possess 25% of the mental/phsycological capacity that is necessary to do this and it is impossible for him to close that gap.
He would require a quality trainer to do his thinking for him like Hunter does for Khan. Khan has the boxing IQ of a baked potato but even he can occasionally follow instructions, that's what Broner needs. But I doubt he even has the mental capacity to realise this and will just kid himself into another embarrassing loss.
To me, Broner's shortcomings are more about personality disorders than boxing IQ. They combine to constiute the gap to which I am alluding.
He had to wave the rehydration clause because he was struggling. The answer is clear, he has to focus and dedicate him to his sport. He has to be willing to put the work in to achieve his maximum potential. His skill and strength at the lower weights when he was younger are simply not enough anymore to hang with the big dogs without his dedication and focus on point. I don't know if he has the dedication to let the persona of AB take a back seat and allow the man behind the "mask" make the necesary changes to turn things around at this point. He has to reinvent himself and reinvest himself INTO himself. Without enriching himself he cannot achieve what came easily to him 2-5 years ago at the level he aspires to make noise in.
Last time Broner talked up a rematch with a man he'd lost to he fought Emmanuel Taylor, Carlos Molina and John Molina Jr. in his next 3 fights
It's up to Broner, does he have the nuts to tell Mayweather he is no longer his clown. Broner should try and get as far away as possible for this "little bro" label that has been attached to him, stop mentioning Mayweather, grow up, shut his mouth, get a team around him that tell him the truth and let his performances do the talking. It's all about attitude and application with Broner.
It could well be and after the weekend I think that's a fair comment. Broner might have peaked already, we might have already seen the best of him but the very least he can do is give himself a chance to come again and I believe that means changing a lot of things around him.
