Jmm was also competitive with Bradley and beat a decent fighter in Alvarado. Could Canelo be competitive with Dirrell at !68? I doubt it. He would probably still beat Paul Smith though.
If Andre fights a Fonfara/DeGale/Dirrell/Pascal type and looks every bit the fighter he was 3 years ago then here are my chances each man has of beating him. GGG, 10-20% Chance Adonis: 15-25% Chance Kova: 45-55% Chance (So essentially a 50/50)
You've only got to go back to 2012 for his wins over Carl Froch and Dawson. If what happened in 2012 doesn't carry any weight now, then probably everyones' P4P lists need to be different.
It was a mistake even if you don't know it, no one would wittingly call Rummy the knowledgeable one when I am gracing a thread with my presence :nod
Why? Mine wouldn't be. If a guy was 0-20 in his career at the end of 2012 and then beat GGG, Ward and Kovalev in 2013, 2014 and 2015 I would have him #1 P4P.
If the emphasis is so dramatic on "what have they done lately," then certain guys like a Pacquiao or even a Wladimir wouldn't be nearly as high on the list as everyone pretty much puts them. Nor Bradley or Froch and Marquez before they exited from inactivity.
I consider resume on a rolling 2 year basis and drop fighters after 1 year of inactivity :nod Wlad has beaten Povetkin, Leapai, Pulev and Jennings in the last 2 years. Terrific 2 year resume. Manny has beaten Bradley, Algieri, Rios and lost to Floyd. I didn't have Manny #2 like many others did going into the Floyd fight based off of those wins. But I thought #5 was a fair spot for him and I'd be fine moving him as low as #8. Bradley hasn't been in my P4P list in some time and was never nearly as high as many others had him. Carl hasn't been in my P4P list since the Bute win fell off, at which point his last 2 years read like this: Ws - Bute, Mack, Kessler, Groves x2, Ls - none.
:huh I thought Amnat won pretty easily (as did the genral boxing media). The near shut out for him was the best card IMO. I also scored Yaegashi beating Ioka, and the Alvardo fight a draw (nowhere near what two of the judges had it for sure),
Thanks for the response. But please try to explain your ranking of Uchiyama at 8. I'm a huge fan of his so you don't need to educate me. Just explain to me. In the past 2 years, Uchiyama is 3-0 with wins over Daiki Kaneko, Israel Perez, and Jomthong Chuwatana... top 10 P4P in that time span??? I think not. And thus you see why not factoring things beyond two years is foolish and simply less accurate to what's happening. Because with your criteria Uchiyama isn't even a top 30 fighter when he clearly is in reality.
Well you sound like a plain hater being that Amnat/Ioka is widely viewed as a robbery or poor decision by every fan out there. I don't think you actually watched that one, especially if you are saying a shut out for Amnat was the best card. Yaegashi vs. Ioka was a classic unification fight. I scored it a Draw. The opinion on that fight on this forum (mostly Yaegashi) is different than on any other forum, different to the Japanese media and fans, and different with any other person I discuss that fight with (mostly Ioka). The Alvarado fight was not a blowout by any means but seemed pretty darn relatively clear to me. Honestly, you are the first I have heard ever insinuate that fight as being remotely questionable or controversial.
