never , but to be fair they do have some cracking PPVs on the odd occasion when they put a monster card together with a big main event , the upcoming aldo v mcgregor fight is absolutely huge , if you think im joking take a look at this promotion in dublin .

A few years ago Joe Rogan was on TV saying how boxing was dead, that once De La Hoya retired boxing would have no superstars and MMA would take over. That was 7 years ago yet boxing has just staged the richest fight in history while the UFC has a woman as its marquee fighter and have to hype her by using a boxers name

 

naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa lol. have are own discussion here, cant stand Gareth Davis and personally MMA is for mindless goons participating and speculating, ever been to an MMA gym you couldn't find a similar bunch of complete clichés anywhere else. and while its the new thing of course its going to be popular the more GSP's and Silva's that begin fighting intelligently and taking over the sport the less the 'fans' will like it and that is just natural progression. and i also dont agree with the UFC brand and in my opinion as soon as soon as another half smart business man decides he wants a slice of what they have grown and throws money at his own brand, it'll soon go downhill just like the popularity of kickboxing before it (in the early 2000's)

 

they do this ALL the time and thats why it will never take over. they are not looking to continue to better themselves but merely try and be as good as boxing which mean they will always be a step behind.

and as for Rousey she has NO competition how is she a superstar?? she is a female MMA version of Wilder, at least most boxing fan don't buy into his hype

Imagine SkySports, HBO, Showtime or whoever putting on a boxing PPV with a woman with 10 fights headlining it

 

I'm afraid it's peaked, you could have made a case 4 or 5 years ago if the rate of growth displayed then could have been sustained but it wasn't.

 

This debate is years out of date. UFC has plateaud everywhere bar the US, Brazil and Ireland and the last-named is predicated upon one fighter, a bit like Pacquiao in the Phillippines. Attendances are down in all other markets which is why UFC sticks to its core regions. Boxing's very best is still a far bigger commercial attraction - Mayweather-Pacquiao did figures Dana White can only dream of. Saying all that, I do enjoy watching MMA but boxing remains the world's pre-eminant combat sport from a commercial standpoint.

 

The MMA growth has leveled out now. I would say its still increasing in popularity but slowly now. Boxing is much much bigger.

 

No chance MMA will have a decent hardcore fan base but never will it over take Boxing.

I have watched plenty of MMA can really take it or leave it tbh and even the paying public that go to events seem to only really enjoy the stand up element of the game.

MMA novelty especially when the UFC was getting lots of publicity.
Boxing a rich history that will always attract a far bigger interest.
